I have seen this with my 2 that I have. Normally it happens it the thumb drive thinks it did not get properly unplugged from my computer. Normally all I have to do is unplug it and plug it back in an it connects just fine.

If this does not work for you there may be a problem with the USB port. So I would try you thumb drive on another computer using one of the ports that acutally are on the motherboard. If it works then go back and try it again on your computer USB Ports that are connected to the motherboard. If it works again they you have a problem with your front USB and you may need to stop using them on this computer. I have seen this from time to time where something with happen to the front USB where it with not work properly. It could be a problem with the port or/and the connection back to the motherboard.

Hope this helps

My cruzer micro flash drive will not open

Have you tried opening up your files on another PC? Have you tried inserting it into a different USB drive in your PC? If so, and neither is fixing the problem, there is software you can get (I think about $20) that will help you retreive your files if they are crucial.

My U3 Smart SanDisk Cruzer Micro 2.0GB USB Drive Not Recognized

We can fix it -- and recover the data (provided it is recoverable -- which it generally is). If we don't get your data back, we ship the drive back to you and you pay nothing. We've been recovering data for over 16 years and are successful about 85% of the time.

1gb cruzer micro

This is caused by 1 of 2 problems:
  1. Your flash drive is corrupted in some way, forcing the computer to reformat it before you can use it.
  2. The flash drive was formatted for a specific device (like a piano) and was made only for that device.
  3. Your PC incorrectly recognized it
  4. You do not have the correct drivers installed.
If you have problem #4, you can go onto google and search "1 gb cruzer micro drivers".
If you have problem #3, try plugging your flash drive into a different USB port.
If you have problem #2 or #1 (Which it most likely is), then you should try or buy a software application such as PC Inspector, to recover those files. Then you may reformat the flash drive.

However, I found that sometimes, just restarting the computer, and inserting and re-inserting the flash drive sometimes does work. But that's not guaranteed.

Work through My computer once putting the disk in the USB port. It should read "removable device". Click back and forth from c: drive to my computer to make the computer recognize it faster. Let me know what happens.
