I have seen this with my 2 that I have. Normally it happens it the thumb drive thinks it did not get properly unplugged from my computer. Normally all I have to do is unplug it and plug it back in an it connects just fine.
If this does not work for you there may be a problem with the USB port. So I would try you thumb drive on another computer using one of the ports that acutally are on the motherboard. If it works then go back and try it again on your computer USB Ports that are connected to the motherboard. If it works again they you have a problem with your front USB and you may need to stop using them on this computer. I have seen this from time to time where something with happen to the front USB where it with not work properly. It could be a problem with the port or/and the connection back to the motherboard.
