My Dewalt DC500 portable vacuum suddenly stopped working. It won't come on with battery power or AC power. I had just used it the day before with no problems. Any ideas what happened to it?

This vacuum is prone to battery contactor problems. Check for bent pins or (more likely) corrosion. Check batteries and radio.

It should be 110 volts in, and through a transformer to 18 volts output where is meets up with the 18 volt battery socket and from there to the motor.

My Dewalt dc500 only works on AC power (plugged in to wall socket). When you put in the battery it doesn't work. Can anyone help?

Check battery contactor on the vacuum and on the battery. It is a common problem on this vacuum. Check for bent pins and corrosion.

DeWalk DC500 wet/dry vaccum doesn't work

Vacuum works with the battery but does not work with 120 volt. Every time I plug it in it blows the internal fuse. I have replaced the fuse inside the vaccum several times and every time i plug it in it blows. What do you think it could be?

I had the same problem and traced it down to the on/off switch. I sprayed some electical contact cleaner down inside the switch and now it works normal. Hope this helps.
