My usb ports stop working my mouse shows there is power but it is not working wat can i do to fix it i have a dell precision m70. i dont know anything about computers show me step by steb wat to do

Windows 7 Control panel => Power Options
On the right hand side of your power plans you will see CHANGE PLAN SETTINGS then on the next page you will see on the bottom CHANGE ADVANCED POWER SETTINGS under there you should see the lid settings. Hope that helps.

Go to Control Panel-Device Manager

Try your mouse in different USB ports, if it works well in the other ports then you know your original port is bad. If the mouse still acts up, then go ahead and try another usb mouse in the computer. If the 2nd mouse is working then you know the original mouse is bad. If the 2nd mouse is not working then you know that the usb ports on your motherboard are bad.

does it show anything in a desktop monitor ,you can plug one into the back of your laptop

i guess u windows has corrupted, u need to reinstall windows on your laptop to get it up & running again

try to insert another usb drive on the port.it the usb works then probably the bluetooth transmitter is faulty. If the USB drive also does not work... then probably the USB port of the computer damaged.

if the laptop is wifi enabled there is no need o connect it through the Ethernet cable it will just pick up the signal and you will have to put in the pass code. Even if you want to connect by Ethernet cable you should be able to just plug it in and get on the internet.
if the problem is you don't know the pass code it should be on the original modem manual.

Are you running XP or Vista?
If XP, go to control panel then to system then to advanced than to device manager. look for any YELLOW question marks and fix those.Especially in the USB Hub .
