How du I reset a password for my router?

Login to your router, then find the Wireless Security page, when it asks for security or encryption type, choose WPA, and then create a passphrase/passkey/PIN/password (different manufacturers use different names for it). Once you change the passphrase, you'll need to reconnect all your devices with the new passphrase.

The WPA passphrase is the security code that you used to set up the wireless networking. If you can't find that passphrase you will need to reset the device and start over, including for all of your other devices.

I am trying to connect a wirelsss printer to my 3G Router - DIR-412 and it is asking for a WPA security passphrase and I can't find the passprhase. I have tried to go on the 192.168.0.1 site, but...

I have an easier way to find your passphrase, but ONLY if you have a computer connected to the router wirelessly. Logging into the router and trying to find out the passphrase can sometimes not work either because a lot of the time, it is blanked out for security reasons, of course.

This program finds saved passwords on your computer for wireless access points. You can read more about it here, if you'd like, but the first link gets you right into the action.

Good luck!

When i try to set up my new 3g mobile bbroadband wireless-n router the computer ask me for a pin number that sopposed to be in the back of the router and already try all the numbers that i can found and it...

This is a common issue with Windows 7. To get around this issue, try the following steps.
  • Click the Network icon, located on the right of the taskbar near the time. It should look like a computer monitor.
  • Locate the Wireless network you want to connect to and highlight it and click connect.
  • At this point you should be given two options: "Setup the Network connection now" or "No, connect to the network anyhow.
"
You want to select the option for "No, connect to the network anyhow"
  • This will bypass the requirement of a PIN, which is not supplied with these routers.

The PIN number could be the passphrase or encryption key code that is in the router's wireless settings. Go to the wireless router settings for this info.

Wheres the security pin

You can find the security PIN on the device, at the bottom of the device. But if you are using Win Vista or Win 7, you can select the 2nd option on the page where it asks you for the PIN. The 2nd option would look like: I don't have the PIN, i would rather connect using using security key. This will be shown if you already have some security enabled on your wireless network. If its an unsecured network, The option would look like: I don't want to configure my network now, I just want to connect. Then you can connect with either the security or unsecured.

I have a zoom 4506, i have tried to set up a zte ac2790 modem running on pakistan ptcl evo 3g network . i enter the username and password and dial up name as provided in the setu wizard, when i go through...

It sounds like you are having trouble connecting your ZTE AC2790 modem to your Zoom 4506 router using the Pakistan PTCL EVO 3G network. There could be a few reasons why the connection is not working properly.
One possible issue is that the router's firmware is outdated and needs to be updated. You can check for updates on the router's control manager and install any available updates.
Another possible issue is that the modem is not compatible with the router. You should check the router's manual to confirm that the modem is compatible.
It could also be an issue with the PTCL EVO 3G network settings, such as incorrect username and password, or incorrect Dial-up name, you should contact your service provider to check your settings.
It is also possible that there is a problem with the SIM card or the modem itself, you can try with another SIM card or try the modem on a different device to check if it works.
It's also highlighted in red that a pin is required, if your service provider says that there is no pin required it is possible that the router is not configured properly to work with the network you are using.
It would be best to contact your service provider for further assistance with setting up your internet connection, or take your router and modem to a professional repair shop for further diagnosis and repair.

Zoom 3G router. I have a pin on my 3G modem - how do I configure Zoom 3G router to use this PIN or do I have to disable the PIN on the modem

A Pin...this means that when you first connect you are sent to a special site, and you have to enter a pin on a web page? Or you have to have a special app to enter it?
Disable it, and use WPA security with a good (decent length, not dictionary based) pass phrase. Is the wire to your modem the insecure piece? Or the Wi-Fi that is accessible to someone in the adjacent street?
Unless your circumstances are odd, the wire to your modem is as secure as the interior of your home, while the wi-fi need to be well locked down. WPA2 with a good passphrase is as good as it gets. Well, using actual wires is faster, more secure and more reliable. But WPA or WPA2 is fairly good (WEP is fairly useless, it has been thoroughly cracked now and can be hacked with the right toolkit in a minute or two).

After installing the router it was working fine. I went in to set up wireless security and now the internet light stays red.

Probably means that the security is turned on, if the wireless doesn't work even after you have entered the right password then press and hold the reset button on the back of the router to restore it to defaults - factory defaults just like it was first powered on.
