JBL amp, worked fine untill 2 days ago. protection light on..

JBL amp, worked fine untill 2 days ago. protection light is on (red) then the blue light, witch is the power on light is blinking every 3 or so seconds. fuses r ok and all the wires are intact from when it was working. Any sugestions? I was bumping the system and it just cut off, the rest of the car speakers work fine, its just the amp. Maybe blown subs?

Thank you for the response. I will check all that out soon. It is freezing outside and I have not been able to work on the system. Hopefully 1 of these days comming up is warm enough for me to spend a lil time on it. Thanks again for your help. I will repost once I try it and will let you know what the problem was...

If the amp is in protect mode, it probably has shorted output transistors. To eliminate other possible causes, do the following. Disconnect all speaker wires from the 'amplifier's speaker terminals' and disconnect RCA/signal cables from the amp. If it powers up normally, the speakers/wiring need to be checked. If it still shuts down (goes into protect mode), the amp almost certainly has shorted output transistors and will need to be repaired. If the amp only shuts down when it's driven to relatively high volume, you need to confirm that you have sufficient power supply voltage. With your multimeter set to DC volts, the black meter probe on the ground terminal of the amp (not on the point where the ground wire connected to the vehicle) and the head unit on (so the amp will have remote voltage applied), touch the red probe alternately to the B+ and remote terminals of the amp. If the voltage is below ~11 volts on either the B+ or remote line, you need to check the wiring feeding whichever line is too low. If 'both' the B+ and remote turn-on lines are low and your battery is fully charged, you may have a bad ground connection.

Might have roasted your speakers voice coils a little which may be sending the amp into protect mode throw a speaker on it that you know works and if it doesnt trigger the protect circuit then you probably have a blown or almost sub.

Disconnect all speaker connections and rca cables. Leave power, ground and remote wires intact. Try turning on again. If you still have a protection light your amp is faulty. Hopefully you have warranty. Might be inveating in a new pair of subs. .A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if this answer is helpful to you.

I have buy JBL four way channel amplifier 3 months before. Nearly 2 times my amplifier is not working. Red light is glowing even wen ma car is in off conditions and amplifier is not working. help me

Hi, Looks your amp has gone into "protect" mode, the first thing I would check is the fuse, should be under the bonnet (hood) about 15 cm's (6" or so) from the battery. I've found a couple of sites that may be able to help with your problem.

JBL BP600.1 protection

Disconnect all speaker connections and rca cables. Leave power, ground and remote wires intact. Try turning on again. If you still have a protection light your amp is faulty. Hopefully you have warranty. Using an ohm meter to the sub will confirm whether its bad or not. Invest in a cheap test set of 6.5" speakers.

JBL amp won't turn on

unfortunately it probably burnt up. If all the wiring's good like you said it is it's probably just fried... My advice is send it back if it's still under warranty, they'll either repair it or get you a new one. If its not under warranty you can pay to have it fixed or just buy a new amp. I you buy a new one go Kenwood, or Alpine, i've had problems with jbl in the past...

My Jbl mono amp cuts out

It's likely that the amp has blown output transistors. To eliminate other possible problems, read through the following page:

Falty Amplifier?

It sounds like the output transistors have shorted. This is VERY common. If you want to try to troubleshoot the problem, I'd need to see photos of the inside of the amp. You'll need a multimeter to check the transistors.

Before opening the amp, remove it from the power source.

Since the resolution is severely limited here, send the photos to me directly ([email protected]). If you're going to send multiple photos, please zip them and send one file.

No audio-amp protect light come on then went

You need to check the DC voltage across the B+ and ground terminals. You also need to check the DC voltage across the remote and ground terminals. If the voltage is less than 11 volts, you need to check the B+ supply and remote wiring for breaks or open fuses. You should also check the ground connection to confirm that it's not loose.

If the voltage is OK, the output transistors are likely shorted.
