Won't stop running. How do I access system / stop it running ......

Last month I had an issue where my toilet wouldn't stop running. However, it was also leaking and I had to call for some emergency plumbing. Are you experiencing any leakage or moisture around the toilet area? If so, then you should get someone to fix that. However, if you aren't, then you might want to try turning off the water for a while and then turning it back on. Sometimes that helps me resolve the running issue. Install wax ring around base waste pipe. Make sure that 2 bolts are sticking out of a track under the toilet.Put toilet bolts through toilet holes and tighten nut with washer on each bolt to lock down the toilet. Now attache the water line that goes into toilet and bidet.

Caroma toilet 12years old, concealed cistern. Water leaking around base when toilet is flushed. water level maintained when not flushing, so the leak must be between the cistern and the bowl. Had a plumber...

Fixing a leaky toilet is actually rather simple, requiring few tools and just a little time and effort. In looking at Caroma toilets on Google, they appear to be just a standard type of unit, and should present few if any problems for yourself or any handyman of modest skill.

If it is leaking around the base of the toilet - where the toilet sits on the floor, the repair item is a simple wax seal. Here is a tutorial to effect this repair: Replace Toilet Wax Ring. The wax ring is very inexpensive, usually $5 to $10 USD.

If the water is leaking from between the tank (cistern) and the toilet bowl, the job is even easier, as it does not require lifting and moving the entire toilet. A good tutorial for that repair is here: How to Replace Tank to Bowl Gasket . The gaskets, new nuts, bolts and rubber seals come in a kit and also cost only $5 to $10 USD.

I am sorry to hear your Plumber insisted you buy an entire new toilet, but do remember he is in the business of making money!

Why does my toilet suddenly fill the tank?

Usually seeping is from under the flapper. Replace flapper with one designed for that model. Avoid generic flappers.

How to change toilet bowl

Shut off water to tank and drain tank by flushing , then use a sponge to soak up any left. Disconnect water line, then 2 of 1/2" nuts at base of toilet ( floor ) . Lift toilet off, clean old wax off toilet and flange at floor, and install new wax gasket. Set toilet down straight and aligned with gasket and flange as well as studs. Make sure toilet is all way down on new wax gasket ( sit on it and move around a bit until toilet feels steady on floor ) then put nuts washers etc back on and snug it up. Don't tighten too much and snap base, just good and snug.

Leak under toilet bowl. Water seeps out from under the bowl. It's not a drip from outside .I replaced the wax ring but no improvement.

1 - Check bolts and washer from the tank to bowl for a leak.It can leak and run down the bowl and pool around bottom of bowl. It will run down the back and under toilet and come out from under bowl in front.

2 - Does the flange sit below floor level some wax ring's differ in size. May take a wax ring with a horn to in the flange, You may try 2 wax rings stacked or get a jumbo size one to get a better seal.

3-Check water line and for possible crack in toilet some where a last resort. Was the flange secure and in good shape, inspect it for a possible crack.

Toilet downpipe

If you live in an older part of Town, You most likely have an older Sewer, 4-6" clay drain tile leaving your house. This Tiles is in 2-4ft clay sections, layed together with concrete and other ("OLD FASHION TECH") You or your neighbor probably have roots in your old clay tiles creating a blockage. The Roots can enter through the cracks between the old joints of the clay tile in search for a great supply of water!!! Your cheapest and best bet is to call a certified roto-rooter company or someone able to use a roto-rooter rental machine. If you need more info, feel free to ask....Joe
