Washing machine wont work at all

Obviously the first thing to check is that the socket is supplying power by plugging another appliance in such as a lamp. It is less likely to be the socket but you'd be daft not to check it out before calling an engineer as it does occasionally turn out to be a faulty wall socket. This is only necessary though if there are no led indicator lights lit up on your washer as any light that's on shows that the machine is getting a live and neutral supply from the socket.
The second thing to check is the fuse in the plug. Either put the fuse into something else and check the appliance still works or try another fuse that you know to be OK in the washer. Make sure you use a 13 amp fuse and never by-pass a fuse! If both of those are OK, then the most common cause for a washing machine that wont start is the door interlock, particularly if the mains lights on the washing machine has come on, but nothing works. However, the fault could also be in wiring to the door interlock or even the door catch not activating it properly, or the on off switch or the main control module. With some Indesit and Hotpoint washing machines even an open circuit heater or motor can cause the entire washing machine to stop working except the led lights.
You need to know what you are doing to trace this type of fault so if it isn't the wall socket or the plug you'd be better getting an engineer to trace it. Do not work on a live washing machine. Engineers should use a continuity test meter to trace faults with the washing machine unplugged and never test with a live washing machine.

Machine stopped mid cycle with water still inside and the panel is saying FO/5

F05 means you have a pressure switch fault, check the pressure chamber or pipe also the wiring from the switch. For more Hotpoint, Creda or Idesit error code definitions use this link

Hotpoint washer/dryer aqaurius stopd mid cycle with message F-01

f01 is a motor short circuit. you will probably need a new one and maybe the circuit board that powers it if all the lights went out unless the fuse is gone.

Hotpoint WD64 No power - help please !

hi from n/west uk from the symptoms you describe ? that you have no lights on machine? this is most definately total power loss to machine so if you are certain? the fuse is ok? next is has the wire/lead from plug chaffed or damaged breaking the supply? this next possibility may sound odd but the socket you plug machine into ? may be faulty ie the damp location at rear of machine could have caused deteriation of socket terminals or wires even the wire may have broken/come loose? have had this happen in homes and caused by wires not secured properly and eventually arcing/ resulting in power fail at socket ? may i suggest try another elec appliance ie lamp/hoover/ iron? to check if socket is operating just to eliminate? also if the socket is a fused type? make sure this fuse is ok too? finally have you checked consumer unit for possible seperately fused/trip out for the machine use socket ? hope this helps find fault best wishes
