I have a linksys wrt54g v8 cant connect to internet says password is wrong have tried my internet provider password and router password, also the encryption key

Look on the back of your router for a url (numerical Web address) that is the format of 123.456.7.8 In your PC Internet browser put said url in address bar and connect to your router. Your user id should be on the first page. If you have forgotten your password contact your service provider to reset.
However your user ID and preset password should be on the sticker on the back of your router. If none of this works contact your service provider.

Different ISPs require different configurations. If you have a Linksys router, such as the WRT54G, there are 2 ways on how you can configure it, either by running the Setup CD or by doing manual configuration. This particular router has its own web utility and you can access it by typing its IP addres on your web browser, ex. http://192.168.1.1. By default, it doesn’t have any username and its password is admin.

It appears the connection between the Linksys and the modem is not working.
Try a different LAN cable.
