Ensure that the motor oil in it was not presivation oil. some machines have a thick oil put in it to stop the engine rusting if stored for a long time this needs to be replaced before starting the engine. if the engine oil is dark and very thick this may be the case and the engine will need to be stripped to dislodge the piston. but that usually happens in a longer time than 10 seconds.
if not then suspect the motor has had some major mechanical failure such as a crank shaft break. remove the injectors or plugs to see if the motor will crank round without compression.

My 5 ton Kinetic Log Splitter has developed a fault after half an hour of use. It appears to be the motor.Do know of any other motor problems with this Splitter?

Likely a thermal switch in the motor. Trick is determining if the motor is actually over heating or a defective thermal switch.

"Stability Control Fail" light on.

first job is to check the part load and main beather hoses are ok the stability system light may be a false indicator if the engine has stalled best is to get fault codes out of the ecm with a code reader to help but air leaks on the engine inlet side can cause strange/seeming unrelated symptoms

Tiller will not engage tines

Is this a two speed or a 4 speed ... it is a MTD built Troy or a Troy built Troy or do you know?

There were two versions of Horse built in Troy, New York bu Gardenway ... the two speed and the 4 speed. The two speed used two belts the same size while the 4 speed used one belt on different sized pulleys. There was also a variation that used a slip gear ... this model was built to accomodate other accesories ... log splitter and generator.

If yours is a Troy Built from Garden Way, I can help you. If this one is from MTD, I'm not so sure. Can you ID your machine for me please?

Splitter (2 years old) motor won't shut off.

First of all, I hate to, but have to ask, have you verified oil level is up to proper level? Have you checked power at directional solenoid when handle is moved to different directions, as well as released? Obviously when handle is in stop position, there shouldn't be power to motor in either direction. I can't see exact model, or design obviously, but that would be a good place to start.

Robin engine for 27 ton log splitter..starting problems

remove the float bowl from the carburator and clean it out. Either the float is stuck of the needle valve is gummed up. Both the float and needle valve together regulate the fuel allowed into the bowl, if they dont allow fuel in or allow it in fast enough, the engine dies. Also check for a fuel Screen in the fuel tank, it may be plugged up.

I just purchased a troy bilt bronco crt tiller. Put oil and gasoline in. Pulled the cord. It started. Ran maybe 15 or 20 seconds and stopped. When I tried to start it again, the cord would not...

remove the spark plug.  And pull the cord again.  if the carb float is stuck down or you overfilled the oil you could be hydro-locking the engine.  Check.
