Xl 330s will not locate/display maps, just a blank screen saying "no maps found"

If there's data (items) on your TomTom that you can remove/delete, like music, photo's, images, (useless/not needed) maps, favorites, etc. it will give you more "disk" space to work with.

You can back up the data (using the TomTom HOME application) before you remove the items from your device.

use the reset button usually located on the bottom, sometimes whan the battery is naff it will also do that

Here is the way to find the Lat/Lon Info on TomTom.
Tap on main screen. You will be taken to Main menu 1 of 2. Tap on the arrow. You will move to Main menu 2 of 2. Tap on Browse map. You will see the lat/Lon info on the bottom left hand corner (of a selected location) Tap on another location and you will see that the lat/Lon will change to that of the newly selected location. You can use the slider on the right hand side to zoom in or zoom out so that you can get the Lat/Lon info of far off locations. However, for this purpose, google maps would be a better option. But if you know the address, use the find button which will give you easier access to Lat/Lon info.

your xl will not say street names if its using a human voice, because it can not convert text to speech

you have to use the computer generated voice option to utilize the text to speech feature.

tap the map screen, the go in the preference option, then locate the change voice option.

on my xl its on the 4th page but your 330 may differ slighly.

it probably wont tell you which are computer or human generated, so youll have to experiment.

Turn on your tomtom.
When it has booted to the map display press once on the map
Now click the spanner / wrench icon.
Use the right arrow icon to scroll until you see the flags icon and select that.
The language menu will open and you can set it to english there

If english is not listed then it has been deleted by accident and you would have to download it from tom tom to restore it.

On the map screen, tap the screen anywhere, then tap "change preferences", tap forward arrow until you see "Brightness preferences" tap brightness preferences, adjust preferences to your preference and then tap done

look in options to make sure any maps you have loaded are selected

You'll have to remove enough stuff to make room for the new map. I had the same problem which is how I found this site. Turns out, the new map is larger than the one that came on the unit. The 1 GB of available space is pretty much all used when you get the GPS. Just copy all the voices and POIs that you aren't planning on using to your computer in case you change your mind later (you can just download them again for free too). As for the voices, only one works for text-to-speech anyway and that would be Samantha though a male voice is available for download.

You'll need to clear just under 4 MB to make room for the new map, and that's if you haven't added anything. Having the drive/memory on this unit just larger than the map makes it very difficult to get much use out of TomTom's great add-ons.
