Remote control plane not responding to transmitter.
We have bought an Art-Tech Cessna 182 remote control plane. All the electrics were working fine so we have assembled the plane. After recharging the battery, the servo on the rudder is making a clicking noise and nothing is responding to the transmitter. Have tried the transmitter on the simulator on our PC and it seems to be working fine. What could have gone wrong?

It does indeed have keyless entry. It needs reprogramming when you get a new remote. Also if you disconnect the battery. Usually a local car alarm fitting shop, or an auto-electrician will do it. Plus of course a Ford dealership.
Programming Electronic Door Lock Control System
NOTE: The electronic door lock control processor (14B001) erases all
previous keyless entry remote transmitter (15K601) from memory when the keyless
entry remote transmitters are programmed or reprogrammed. The electronic door
lock control processor can store up to four keyless entry remote transmitters in
memory.
To program (or reprogram) keyless entry remote transmitter into the
electronic door lock control processor, perform the following steps:
Turn ignition switch to the RUN position and momentarily short the two
terminals of the program connector taped to the wire assembly and located behind
the glove compartment. All doors should lock and then unlock. Remove shorting
pin.
Press any button on keyless entry remote transmitter. All doors should lock
and then unlock to verify the keyless entry remote transmitter has been
programmed. If door locks do not respond, press button again (up to three times
maximum with the same keyless entry remote transmitter).
Repeat the above step to program additional keyless entry remote transmitters
into the electronic door lock control processor (up to four keyless entry remote
transmitters maximum).
Turn ignition switch OFF. All doors should lock and then unlock.
Keyless Entry System Circuit Description
The Power Door Locks/Remote Keyless Entry control system provides several functions. The driver operates the vehicle door locks and rear window release from outside the vehicle using a hand-held radio transmitter. The transmitter sends coded signals to the remote control door lock receiver. The remote control door lock receiver detects and decodes the signal from the transmitter. The remote control door lock receiver issues signals to the body control module (BCM) through a serial data link. The BCM actuates relays to lock and unlock the doors and liftgate. The BCM can also release the liftglass. The power door lock switches provide manual control of the door locks.
Transmitter Programming
Important: Different keyless entry systems are used on General Motors vehicles. The parts are not interchangeable even though the parts may appear to be similar. Observe the back of the transmitter in order to properly identify the system. On 1998 S/T pickups and utilities, use a transmitter identified with GM/UTA preceding the part number.
With the driver door closed, hold down the power unlock button on the door panel.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
Release the power unlock button on the door panel.
The remote control door lock receiver will respond in the following manner in order to indicate that the receiver is in the programming mode:
6.1. Locking the doors
6.2. Unlocking the doors
Important: All extra transmitters must be programmed at this time. When a new transmitter is programmed, it will deactivate the old transmitters.
Hold down the lock and unlock buttons on the transmitter until the remote control door lock receiver will respond in the following manner:
7.1. Locking the doors.
7.2. Unlocking the doors.
Repeat step 7 for each additional transmitter.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position in order to exit the transmitter programming mode.
Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.
Remove the BCM PRGRM fuse from the fuse panel. Refer to Fuse Block in Wiring Systems.
Close all of the doors.
Close the liftgate.
Turn the ignition lock cylinder to ACC.
Turn the ignition lock cylinder to OFF, and then back to ACC within 1 second.
Open and close any vehicle door. A chime will be heard when the system enters the BCM programming/diagnostic mode.
Important After
7 seconds, a chime may be heard confirming successful synchronization.
It is necessary to wait approximately 14 seconds for a second chime
that will confirm successful programming.
Press and hold the transmitter LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for 14 seconds.
Repeat the previous step on each additional transmitter to be programmed.
Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.
Install the BCM PRGRM fuse back into the fuse panel. Refer to Fuse Block in Wiring Systems.
Transmitter Programming:
1)With the driver door closed, hold down the power unlock button on the door panel. 2)Turn the ignition switch to the ON position 3)Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position 4)Turn the ignition switch to the ON position 5)Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position 6)Release the power unlock button on the door panel. The
remote control door lock reciever will respond in the following manner
in order to indicate that the receiver is in the programming mode:
6.1)Locking the doors 6.2)Unlocking the doors
IMPORTANT: All
extra transmitters must be programmed at this time. When a new
transmitter is programmed it will deactivate the old transmitters.
7)Hold
down the lock and unlock buttons on the transmitter until the remote
control door lock reciever will respond in the following manner:
7.1)Locking the doors 7.2)Unlocking the doors Repeat step 7 for each additional transmitter 9) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position in order to exit the transmitter programming mode.
There...
your little GM secret is finally known... Now can someone out there
start posting these program codes for the rest of us! Hope this
helps....
This is why it don't work. This is one you need a
scan tool for. Stupid Idea. The procedures are different for each car,
and model year, the one mitch supplied looks like the one for older
silverado trucks, not sure though.
Transmitter Programming A
remote door lock receiver may have up to 4 different transmitters
programmed. You may program a transmitter to more than 1 vehicle
providing the remote keyless entry systems are similar. When
reprogramming 1 transmitter, reprogram any and all other transmitters
(maximum of 4 total per receiver) at the same time in order for the
other transmitters to work.
Important Leave a window down
in the vehicle while reprogramming the remote control door lock
receiver system. This procedure will avoid an unintentional lock out if
the reprogramming is not performed properly.
Turn off the ignition. Utilize a Tech 2 to program the remote door lock receiver. Enter diagnostics (F0). Enter body (F1); select the year (X) and body style (N). Select "Remote Function Actuation" (F3). Select "Special Functions" (F2). Select "Program Transmitters" (F0). Select the number of transmitters to program (1-4) Follow
the on-screen instructions; press continue, wait for the locks to
cycle, hold the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously for 15-30
seconds, the locks will cycle again. Exit the vehicle. Attempt to lock/unlock the doors to verify the programming. Perform the following steps if the above procedure does not program the transmitter. Reconnect the Tech 2. Enter service programming (F1). Press the "REQUEST INFO" key. Select "Reprogram Existing Module" Exit the vehicle and remove the Tech 2. Follow the existing procedure to reflash the body control module.
try to reprogram the remotes using these instructions..........
i assume for 02 explorer not th 05 frestyle listed (although similar procedure)
Remote Transmitter Programming
NOTE: All remote transmitters are programmable and must be set at the same time.
Make sure that the anti-theft system is not armed or triggered and key code programming is not active.
Open the door, then press the driver door lock control switch UNLOCK button.
Turn the key from OFF to ON 8 times within 10 seconds, with the eighth turn ending in ON. If the program mode is sucessfully entered the doors will lock and unlock to confirm.
Press any button on a remote transmitter, and the doors will lock and then unlock all doors to confirm that the remote transmitter is programmed. All remote transmitters must be programmed within 20 seconds of each other. Up to four remote transmitters can be programmed to the vehicles security module each time programming mode is entered.
NOTE: Exiting is acknowledged by locking and unlocking the doors if at least one remote transmitter has been programmed. Exiting the programming mode is accomplished if one of the following has occurred:
The key transitions to OFF.
20 seconds have passed since entering programming mode or since the last remote transmitter was programmed.
Check your remote control by using a camera or cellphone camera as your
eyes to confirm if the remote control is ok. Point the remote control
transmitter to your camera and check if a light emits in your remote
control transmitter. If no light then the remote control is defective,
but if the light is present then the remote is ok and the unit
receiver board itself is defective.
Check also if there is a reset or rst button on the remote control, press the button and test the remote.
