Unable to connect Acer One D250 netbook to 2wire modem. Limited or no connectivity. I can connect through wireless at work and hardwire.Comments: Dec 30, 2009- Netbook sees the network, has excellent signal strength, but never completes connection. If I connect a LAN/ethernet cable to the netbook and the 2wire modem, I can access the internet. I have had other laptops connect without issue. When I look at the 2wire network at a glance, I see the netbook listed, but it remains at limited or no connectivity

Replace the Cable and Check.

If the problem still persists then

Give the same network setting to the wireless network adapter as you assigned to your local area connection.

Note: Before doing that remove the IP address of that Local area connection or change it's IP address to some other number.

This will most probably solve your problem.

Otherwise, Used an external USB Wireless Adapter.

Since you are able to connect using a hardwired connection and you're able to connect wirelessly at the library, that simply means that your computer and your internet browser are fine. where is your wireless computer and your wireless located? are there any possible wireless devices interfering with the wireless signal like chordless phones, cellphone, TVs, radios, microwave oven? are your walls in your house covered with metal plates coz that would really make the signal deteriorate. the settinngs on your wireless router may also need to be reconfigured and boost up the signal of the wireless router.if only i could remotely access your wireless router, I would really walk you thru on what to check on your wireless router

Unable to connect Acer One D250 netbook to 2wire modem. Limited or no connectivity. I can connect through wireless at work and hardwire.

With an Ethernet cable, connect from the netbook to a LAN port on the 2WIRE modem.

Access the built-in web-server on the 2WIRE modem, and configure the "wireless network settings" to your choice of SSID and network password/passphrase.

Then, from your computer, "View Available Wireless Networks",
and connect to the SSID that you have chosen.

If the Internet light is off then there is a problem with the phone line to the ADSL modem or the modem is faulty or there is a problem at the telephome exchange.
Disconnect the phone cable at the ADSL modem and connect a phone handset to this cable - check for a dial tone and that you can dial out.
If you don't get a dial tone, use a different or new phone cable.
If the phone line is OK then : -
Ring your ISP to get them to test your connection to your ADSL
modem.

I just bought a SpeedStream 4100 modem

if you brought the wireless new from a vendor. you don't need to configure it. unless you want to.
but if you brought a used one (in you case). you have to configure it. You need to get inside (software wise) of the modem. to do that you need login name and password to start with. if you don't have it, please call or e-mail the guy you brought the modem from.
then you have to configure the security for the wireless, unless you want everyone under sun to access your modem via wireless.
search on the web, you should come away with a user manual for the unit.

Modem reboots when using wireless

Did you try upping your lease time and see if that changes things.
The lease time is the amount of time before a DHCP request a new IP address.
Ususally it get the same, but if it is malfunctioning it can cause problems like this.
