Your Dell does not have built-in wireless capability. You will have to purchase a wireless PCMCIA card for this computer.
Once you get the card, you place it in the card slot on the side of the computer and install the software--actually, I believe you install the software first.
Anyway, once the card is installed, you will be able to access wireless networks. I usually recommend Linksys cards as I've had good experiences with them.

I av a dell latitude c500/600 and need the usb driver its running on xp cheers

All drivers for XP in the C600/C500 should be native to Windows XP Dell never shipped XP on that model so they never had any drivers for XP.
If you have issue with USB devices on that model, try booting to the safe mode, remove the USB devices in Device Manager, then reboot in normal mode and let them re-detect.

Check the settings in the bios to enable the track ball. Most of the time that is where it is enabled or disabled. You can also check Dell's support website for additional software that may allow you to configure additional settings (similar to IBM/Lenovo Thinkpads).

I don't recall the specific key to press to get into the bios, its either F1, F2, F10. You need to do this from a cold start when the laptop is off. Press the power button and when you see the Dell logo, look for the bios settings key to press or press one of them that I suggested. Sometimes this may go by quick so you need to be quick about it as well.

Hope this helps!
