You can adjust the volume by holding down the 'Fn' key (bottom row, second from the left) and pressing Page Up and Down keys (on the far right) to turn the volume up and down respectively.

Turn volumn down

Its normally a keyboard combination or on windows Volume icon next to clock at the bottom of the screen. For keyboard use Press and hold FN button on the keyboard and then look for speaker icons. Some of them have 2 icons and some of them have 3 icons in blue colour on KB. 1 for high, 2nd for mute and 3rd for low. Try these combinations

Laptop key repeats or doesn't work at all

what you can try to do is to test an external monitor. If it works fine, try to check for any stuck key on the keyboard and any foreign objects. If all is well, you can request a replacement keyboard from dell if your system is still within warranty.

Inspiron 2650 Laptop keyboard is locked.

If the keyboard is locked ALL the time, try unpluging the power supply, remove the battery, then push and hold the power button and any key on the keyboard for at least 30 seconds. then reinstall the battery, plug the pwoer cord back in and reboot it.

I had the same problem and that is what the DELL techs had me do. I had the problemm frequently for a while and then it just quit recurring. I haven't had the problem for a long time now.

I hope this helps.

Keyboard want work

The keyboard is probably broken or the cable is loose (unlikely) from the motherboard. Does the keyboard work at all? at any point?

Try a external keyboard, usb for example and see if that works.

Keyboard

Try this:

Shut down, unplug the AC adaptor, removed the battery, and hold the power button for up to 1 minute to discharge.

Make sure there are no stuck keys.

Restart.

Keyboard space bar

only two possibilities, first is the rocker springs at each end or the bar are causingit to not make contact. or the bubble switches under the keyboard. I had a similar problem on an inspiron 6400 and I had to VERY CAREFULLY remove the keyboard, then the button to reach the bubble switch which had lost the plastic bushing that covered the shorting contact, good luck given the insane price that dell wanted for a new keyboard fixing it myself was the option.
