My father has an HP 8250 Photosmart printer that is giving the message "system ink failure". I have tried the fix recommended in the manual (unplug power, wait, replug and turn on), but get the same message. Are there other fixes to try? What else causes a system ink failure that we should check out? Would changing out all the ink fix the problem? Is there a way to clean the ink jets? Or do we need to find a repairman? Any info on cause and solutions to the message to get him printing again is appreciated. Thanks!
Try changing the ink cartridges.
If you installed the "HP Support Toolkit" software from the CD-ROM that came with the printer, use this Toolkit to "run a cleaning cycle".
It can print a "test" page, to show you which colours _do_ work, and which do _not_ work.
If all else fails, then find a qualified printer technician.
