If what you are asking is to pretend like you just bought the laptop and it has no protections from the previous owner, then take your OS cd and format and reinstall the OS.
Looks to me like they never implemented the serial port. The used unit I just obtained has no signal on the serial console pins and no SMC documentation beyond plugging it in appears to exist. Likewise with TELNET access.
However you can reset the switch to factory defaults with the following procedure from a pop-up window off the login page. It worked for me.

If you have forgotten the administration password you can return the Switch to its factory default state by doing the following:
1) Remove the power cord from the back of the Switch.
2) Remove all cables from the front-panel ports.
3) Connect port 1 to port 2, on the front panel, using a standard network cable.
4) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the Switch.
5) Wait at least 40 seconds before disconnecting port 1 from port 2.
After completing this procedure, the password will be 'smcadmin' and the network address will be returned to the default; 192.168.2.10/24.
You can reset the device through RS232 port then please follow the below steps.

1. Connect the console cable one end to EOC-8610 EXT RS232 port and other end to Laptop serial port.
2. Open Hyper terminal and select com-port option and then provide the username and password for the device management.
3. Go inside the system menu and select Reset Factory default.
Remember if u set to load the factory default settings, the device will loose its config and will boot up with factory default configuration.

Resetting the older beige Engenius radios requires a screwdriver and a USB-to-serial cable. You must unscrew the small plate at the bottom, which covers a serial connector. Plug the serial cable into it and then into your computer. Follow these instructions to perform the reset:
Have you tried to reset the camera to the factory defaults? To do this: have the camera in shooting mode - go to Menu - left arrow to reset - press ok - Highlight Yes and press ok. This will reset the camera to factory settings. See if flash works now.
This won't fix your problem but did wanted to put my input. This error basically means bad bios. IBM suggestion is to replace the board but ofcourse that is expensive. Keep me updated on any solutions you find. Somehow you need to flash your bios.
