Sear knob will not stay on (very loose fit). Other knobs seem tighter fit. The grill is brand new -- thus disappointed by post assembly quality control.

You mean the knob is connected directly to the blades? I'm not sure what you mean by blade knob, but does turning it turn the blades? If so, I'd suggest wedging something between the front grill and the blade to prevent it spinning and try to twist the knob off.
I tried to find a owner's manual for your fan, with the assumption that there would be assembly instructions, but was unable to find one. Do you still have the owner's manual? And if so, are there any assembly instructions in there?
How did the back grill come off, if you can't get it over the knob? Or are you assembling it for the first time. If you are assembling it for the first time, was the knob there when you got it? That seems poor design if so.
First I have a couple of questions for your question on how to fix your
Brinkmann Gas Grill, Model 810-8501-S
===============================================.
1). Did you push the igniter for 3-5 seconds after you turned on the
Sear Burner (remember, this needs to be done AFTER you've turned the
control knob to HIGH).
2). Once the burner is lit, you then need to continue to PUSH & HOLD
the control knob for another 30 seconds as this somehow seals the deal,
thus this should solve the problem.
3). However, if this does NOT work, you may have a defective Sear Burner
and the best thing to do is to contact the Customer Service Department

We assembled our new Genesis E-310 yesterday. Went together nicely, but won't heat above 350 or so. It should get to 500-550 degrees withing 10-15 mins. Any ideas of what could be wrong?
