This is because you have wiiconnect24 turned on. wiiconnect24 keeps your wii in a standby mode so that you can receive messages when you are not playing the wii. When the disc tray is blinking blue this means you have a new message. If you want to turn wiiconnect24 off go into the wii settings menu then wiiconnect24. If you just want to turn the wii off fully then when you want to turn the wii off hold the power button on the wii down until it turns red.

I have a Wii. the power light is yellow when off it was red when i first bought it six days ago. i did buy it used.. then it just started to keep the blue light around the disk area on when there is disk...

yellow just means that it's on standby. If there's a new message or there's an update, your Wii will start blinking blue.

If you want to turn it completely off, just go to the Wii menu, Click the Wii icon (Options), then click Wii settings, click the right arrow to get to Wii System Settings 2, then click on Wii Connect 24, then click on Standby Connection, then click off.

hope this helps.

My wii fit balance board keeps blinking but will not stay on. batteries are good. cant find my instruction book. what could be my problem????

follow this
  1. Insert a Wii Balance Board compatible game disc in the Wii console.

  2. Use the Wii Remote to select the Disc Channel from the Wii Menu, then select "Start" to begin the game. Press the A Button to bypass the wrist strap screen.

  3. Open the small SD Card slot cover on the front of the Wii console.

  4. Remove the Battery Cover on the bottom of the Wii Balance Board.

  5. Press and release the SYNC button on the Wii Balance Board. The blue light on the board will start blinking.

  6. Press and release the red SYNC button on the Wii console while the blue light on the board is still blinking.

  7. The blue light will stop blinking and stay on steady once the syncronization is complete.

When I shut down the Wii Console, the light changes only to yellow, only after I unplug the power cord and plug it back in does the red light come on.

It means you're in Standby mode (WiiConnect24 is on). When WiiConnect24 is on and you only briefly press POWER, it goes to yellow so you can still recieve WiiMail and other internet-related stuff while the Wii is off. If you HOLD it, though, it turns off for real. There's nothing wrong with this, so don't change anything.

I recommend only holding it as a last resort, like if it freezes.

When WiiConnect24 is off, though, it won't turn yellow, just red. KEEP WIICONNECT24 ON.

Hope this helps.

Yellow light on wii

It's just the way the wii works. Hold the power button for about 5 seconds and the power button will go red and turn off instead of going yellow and going into standby mode.

My wii works but my controler dosent show up on the screen but the buttons work i need help

Usaully,
I don't know about the Wii but I know what happens with the light on the Wii

Green - The Wii Console is on

Yellow - You are connected to Wiiconnect24. It's harsh not to keep the "Yellow" light on because it could overheat the Wii Console. So if it's "Yellow", put your finger on the "Power" Button and keep it there for a long time. When you push it, it will start with Yellow then turn to Green then keep the finger there for a while then will turn to Red

Red - The Wii Console is off

Blue - You are connected to Wiiconnect24. When it turns Blue, It means you are getting a message from the Wii Console or on Standby Mode

My nintendo wii power light is yellow

The wii power light is yellow because you have wiiconnect24 turned on in the wii system options. Wiiconnect24 constantly keeps your wii connected to the internet by staying in a low power mode, if you receive any messages while int his mode the disk opening will flash blue. If you don't want this option just go into the wii systems settings and turn it off. If you wish to have it but want to turn it fully off just hold the power button on the main console until the power light turns red.

Wii Console will not turn off. After pressing the Power off button the console light goes from green to yellow (not red.) After about 5-10 minutes the blue light will start to cycle on and off and the game...

try turning it off on the console and not with the controller. turning it off with controller turns it yellow. press and hold the power button on console for 5 seconds it should turn red.

Wii standby light

To be precise, you can turn this option off from the Wii System settings -> Wii Connect 24 -> standby connection -> off

When this setting is swiched to off, your console shuts down entirely and there is a RED light on the power button. There will be no need to turn off the console pressing the power button.
