Proform 550xp Treadmill in continuous incline/decline mode!!!
Hi,
My treadmill has been working perfectly till now! Out of the blue, I went to start up the treadmill and put the red magnetic stop thingy on and the screen lights up but displays a ''--'' on the screen and starts to incline all the way to the top, then decline to the bottom and continues this loop without stopping and none of the buttons on the display unit work when I press them, the treadmill just continues to incline/decline in a continuous loop. Here is the weird thing, the display unit typically will not come on even if plugged in and the on button is on, unless you put the red magnetic thingy on it, however, now the display unit is on and cycles through screens (still, the buttons don't work though, it just cycles through the screens) - then as soon as you put the magnetic thingy on, it goes to inclining/declining. I've unplugged the power cord, let it sit overnight without being plugged in to see if it would reset itself but nothing seems to work. Can anyone please help!!!
Re: Proform 550xp Treadmill in continuous incline/decline...
I just called the manufacturer on this and found out i have a faulty control panel, but these are the steps they told me to go through to reset. If it works, then you are good, if not, you may also have a control panel issue. 1. plug in and turn on treadmill, keep red key out 2. press and hold the stop button and speed up button at the same time and hold them while you insert the red key 3. after red key is inserted, let go of both buttons **CAUTION - be sure to stand on side bars of treadmill, clear of the belt for this next part bc it will go VERY FAST*** 4. press stop button once 5. press speed up button until it reads 85 (see what i mean?!) 6. press stop button once 7. press incline down or up one time and it should get back into normal mode. mine just started a series of flashing lights and "8"s in all the "windows" so my panel needs to be replaced. here is the number i called - 1-877-993-7999. Good Luck!

If you've already replaced the lift motor on your Proform 400s Treadmill and the incline still won't work properly, there may be other underlying issues that need to be addressed. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
Check the wiring: Ensure that all the wiring connections related to the incline mechanism are secure and properly connected. Loose or damaged wiring can cause issues with the incline functionality.
Inspect the incline motor and gears: Examine the incline motor and gears for any signs of damage, misalignment, or obstruction. Ensure that the gears are engaging properly and that there are no obstructions preventing the incline from moving up and down smoothly.
Reset the treadmill: Perform a full system reset on your treadmill. This can often resolve minor software glitches or issues that may be affecting the incline function. Consult your treadmill's user manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.
Contact customer support: If you have followed the above steps and the issue persists, it is recommended to reach out to the customer support of Proform or the retailer from whom you purchased the treadmill. They should be able to provide further troubleshooting guidance or arrange for professional repair assistance if needed.
Remember to exercise caution when working with electrical components or performing any repairs on your treadmill. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with the process, it is advisable to seek assistance from a qualified technician or the manufacturer's customer support to ensure proper diagnosis and resolution of the issue.
Hi sir
1) Please open the covert where the main motor is, disconnect
the connector from the Incline motor.
2) Turn On the treadmill, and see what happen.
3) If the problem does Not appear , is indication the controller motor board is defective.
Since the controller motor board has 3 power supply: 1) Console 2) Main Motor 3) Incline Motor.
You've to check the incline and decline limit switches also the incline motor

Hi there, checked both upper and lower bolted connections, and check that lift motor hasn't cracked and frame is intact with no blockages to a possible scissor arm-lift assembly underneath the unit ? If this all checks out, maybe a small gearbox on the lift motor failed internally. Good luck.
1) i recommend that you lube very well deck belt + rollers bearing
2) see the videos.
3) see the block
4) Try to RUN the software calibration, for troubleshooting.
5) measure the input voltage motor, if there are the motor need repair. 6) Measure the output voltage board, for input voltage board, if there are NOT, the board is faulty.
I have a Proform ZT5 model - had the same incline/decline problem. It needed calibrated. - unplug, turn off, and take the key out - plug machine in - turn switch on - Pres and hold the STOP and SPEED UP button at the same time, while holding them insert the RED KEY - let go of both buttons - press STOP 1 time - pres INCLINE UP 1 time - this should reset it.
The tech on the phone mentioned the importance of turning the maching off, taking the key out, and unplugging after each use. Leaving it plugged in there is still an electrical current running and this can cause more seriouc problems that require a new control panel.
You have to put the safety key in if you want to select speed/incline or predefined programs.
It starts and runs at full speed on that occasion because it's part of the maintenance process, that lubricates the inner rollers so that it will continue to work perfectly for as long as possible.
the treadmill won't incline or decline
