Grinder will not shut off

I plugged the pot in after cleaning and the grinder came on and stayed on, even though the grinder, grinder lid and cover was not in place. The only way I can shut it off is to unplug the unit.

    Where is this switch?

  • Anonymous Feb 06, 2008

Cleaned coffee maker last Saturday, since then, grinder comes on and also it starts beeping for no reason, just out of the blue. Only way to stop it is to unplug the pot.

My coffee maker kept shutting off after making 2 cups. I finally tried reversing things and hit the 1-4 cup button. It stayed on for the full 10-cup load.

How to fix, "no bean light" stays on?

hi there,
have you also cleaned the output of the grinder and the doser?
You have to open it (carefully) by hand, as it is normally closed and only opens when the actuator is switched on, and clean the inside with a soft brush.

After cleaning the grinder, its outlet and the doser, the machine will have to gring at least twice ti fill-in these parts, each time saying that there are no beans. It should be OK with the 2nd our 3rd cycle of grinding.

Hope that helps,
M.

While the coffee is brewing without using the grinder feature, coffee overflows onto the counter. About 1/2 of the coffee goes into the pot while the rest spills over. I have cleaned residue from the lid...

overflow problem possible causes: 1) water is over the "10" marker, 2) no filter in basket 3) too much (or too fine) of coffee in the basket -- does not drain. Also make sure the "spring" on the bottom of the basket is not stuck (the one that lets you remove coffee carafe without dripping coffee.

Continue to get beeping after taking out basket, emptying water, re-inserting basket and making certain lid is clicked shut. Thoughts?

All the parts have to be in place, including both the removable grinder unit and its clear cover, even if you're using pre-ground coffee.

It also requires that both the top lid and the front "door" (to the basket area) are clicked shut, and that the basket and its cover are both in place.

One thing to check carefully is the clear cover to the grinder unit. There's a rubber-like "nub" that seems to actually control the switch, which tells the machine that the grinder unit is properly installed. If that rubber-like nub is missing (and unfortunately it IS possible to remove it, particularly during cleaning) ... that could be causing your problem. If you see a hole in the top of that clear cover... you're missing that "nub".

How do i clean my cuisinart grind and brew coffee maker? i can't find my instruction booklet and it needs to be cleaned. thanks!

From the manual I found online here.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE COMPLETELY CLEAN AND DRY ALL PARTS AFTER EVERY USE. Always turn coffeemaker OFF and remove the plug from the electrical outlet before cleaning. Open the reservoir lid*. Remove the grinder basket lid by using the recessed area on each side of the lid. Then remove Grinder Basket. Open Filter Basket Door. Remove Filter Basket Cover, Filter Basket and Filter Basket holder. The grinder basket, grinder basket lid, filter basket and filter basket cover can be washed in warm soapy water and rinsed thoroughly, or cleaned in the upper rack of the dishwasher. Dry all parts after every use. Do not put any water in the unit once the grinder basket has been removed. Wipe the area under the grinder basket with a damp cloth. If water gets into the grinder motor, the motor may become damaged and may malfunction.
DECALCIFICATION Decalcification refers to removing the calcium deposits which form over time on the metal parts of the coffeemaker. For best performance from your coffeemaker, decalcify the base unit from time to time. The frequency depends upon the hardness of your tap water and how often you use the coffeemaker. To clean, fill the water reservoir to capacity with a mixture of 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 water. Turn the coffeemaker on by pressing the ON button. One cycle should be sufficient to adequately clean the coffeemaker. When the cycle is completed and the five beeps sound, turn coffeemaker off. Repeat operation, this time using fresh cold water.

DGB 500 Grinder

You may try opening the front cover first and removing the filter then after opening the top lid, remove the clear grinder cover and lift the grinder from the rear. After you get it out be sure to clean the motor drive shaft and the bottom of the grinder. then use a trace of vegetable oil to lubricate the motor shaft where is attaches to the grinder.

We are on our second coffee maker and it makes great coffee.

The grinder parts have to be in place and the lid closed or it will not work. The plastic cover to the grinder twists to the left which engages a small switch. Hope this helps!

Grinder hard (impossible) to remove

I had the same problem and used a little grease and it worked fine. Take out the bean cup and grease the male and female parts and it should work fine.

Burr grinder GVX212

I had the same problem, took it all apart, separated the two halves, and looked into the guts of the machine, not an easy task. Fiddled with this and that, and looked at the back of the switch mechanism, and heard it making a 'click' when depressed, so put it all back together, to no avail...It turns out the grinder needs to have two limit switches engaged, one between the lid of the ground coffee hopper and the underside of the grinder hopper housing, and the other between the grinder lid and the base of the unit. This last limit switch was my problem, it seems the lid wasn't making contact with the limit switch, so the unit didn't run. I cleaned out the narrow gap that the grinder lid sits within, pressed the lid down until I heard a small 'click' , pressed the on switch, and presto! it works. You can see this very tiny switch if you take off the grinder lid, and look in the narrow gap it sits in at a position of about three o'clock ( the back of the machine when viewed from the top being 12 o'clock. Hope this helps anyone else who can't find their receipt within the one year warranty period. This is the best burr grinder I've found for the money, and I'm glad mine's still o.k.

The beep indicates numerous things. If the top lid is open, it will beep, if you try to depress the brew or timer buttons. There is a button next to the grinder unit, that gets depressed when you close the lid. Check the lid to make sure the tab on the lid hasn't broken. The beep also indicates that brew cycle has finished, although, that is supposed to be only 5 beeps.
