My ice maker stopped working

Test the ice maker cycle button on the bottom of the ice maker, if it cycles and fills, replace the ice maker because that is bad. If it cycles and doesn't fill, you could have a few waterline related issues. Check the water pressure out of the dispenser. If it's very slow Unplug the unit for 24 hours, increase the water pressure to the unit , get all of the moisture out and see if it fills after you plug it back in. I bet it's the ice maker though.

Water dispenser is working but it is not making ice

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

You did not include a model number so this is very generic. When an ice maker slows or stops production often the problem is not the ice maker but a symptom of other problems. The biggest reason they stop working and you still have water in door is that here is an ice block on the evaporator coils. The freezer has to cool down to 14 - 16 F before the ice maker thermostat will actuate and begine the harvest cycle.

There are other reasons they stop working
1. The inlet water valve solenoid has failed
2. The inlet water valve is clogged with debris only on the ice maker supply side.
3. The ice maker thermostat fails
4. The ice maker fill fill tube is frozen closed ( 5. The ice maker module or (optics depending upon model) has failed
6. The evaporator fan is turning to slow or not working.
If you would respond with a model number I may be able to send you links to a manual or 2 that would help you troubleshoot.

Now... back to the beginning.. IF you note ice build up / lots of frost in the back of the freezer do the following:
1. Unplug the unit and remove freezer contents
2. Direct a fan into the freezer compartment for just about 2 hours. (water mess)
3. While the unit is defrosting open the lower back of the unit (Compressor area) and clean the condenser coils and fan. Make sure to also clean the drip pan and the END of the compartment drain tube.
4. Clean up the water mess and return the unit to normal service.

If it starts making ice in 6 - 8 hours you have an automatic defrost system problem. Possible causes for NOT defrosting automatically:
1. Defrost control or timer failure (depending on model)
2. Defrost heating element failure
3. Defrost thermostat or thermistor failure depending upon model.
4. Wiring.

Everything should be fine for at least 2 days. If there is an automatic defrosting problem, the ice production will slow and then stop as more ice builds up on the evaporator coils.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Kenmore elite in door ice maker is not working... 106.5770*701 water dispensor in door works, infrared sensor and on switch seem to be working properly and bin was removed defrosted and replaced and...

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
Often the reason ice makers slow or stop ice production is because the freezer compartment has gradually warmed up above 17 Deg F and the ice maker thermostat will not start an ice harvest cycle. What causes this gradual warming is usually the result of either an evaporator fan running slow or an automatic defrost circuit problem caused by a fault defrost timer/control defrost heating element or defrost thermostat / thermistor.
You can use this manual to troubleshoot the ice maker:
http://applianceassistant.com/pdf/inDoorIceSystem.pdf
or
https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/8527f904cc8ea8cd85256b5800672333/$FILE/4322658A.pdf
Note that jumpering T to H requires the ice maker thermostat to sense a termp of 14 - 16 Deg F for the ice harvest cycle to start. If by jumpering T - H under the ice maker front cover the ice maker does not cycle then either the freezer compartment is too warm or the ice maker thermostat is bad.
If it cycles and does not add water... then the inlet water valve solenoid has failed or the ice maker module is not supplying power to the inlet water valve.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Water wont go all the way into the ice maker

The water inlet valve on the back of the unit where the water supply comes in can have a slow leak and will cause ice to buildup and block the fill tube. Disconnect the ice maker line from the valve and watch to see if it has a slow drip. It doesn’t take much to eventually block the fill tube.
Or
Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

check the temp inside the frezeer it should be 0 degrees at all times if is higher then that then lower temps and clean condenser coils . if it is zero then repl entire ice maker the thermostat inside ice maker is not closing when it should and in return takes longer to cycle ice.

Kenmore Refrigerator stopped dispensing water

Look up through the ice despencer on the front door of the freezer. Is the flapper door open? If so it needs to be fixed. If its not then try leaving the freezer door open for 3+ hours to defrost the frozen line in the door. If that doesnt work, the water valve must be changed.(located behind fridge, take off back cord board panel at bottom, the valve is blue)... GOODLUCK!
