Sleep Mode Problems on a Dell Computer b> When Microsoft patched the power-saving features of Windows XP Service Pack 3 and Windows Vista, certain Dell computers were affected by various issues where the computers would go into sleep mode and be unable to come out of it or error out and not go into sleep mode. Sometimes the computers would go into sleep mode and wake up only when a USB mouse was jostled. Pressing keys on the keyboard would not wake the computer because the keyboard would stop functioning

Disable Sleep Mode Microsoft Windows 7 uses sleep mode for desktops and laptops to save power during times when the computer is not in use but does not need to be shut down. Sleep mode pauses and suspends your computer until you are ready to continue. In some cases, sleep mode interferes with scheduled tasks or operations such as remote desktop connections. Microsoft allows sleep mode to be turned off and disabled for users that have no need for the function or find that the feature is interfering with their normal computing activities.
