Hi
HDMI is only used for Video output and not for sound, you will have to use your laptop audio out (has a pic of headphones), you are able to get headphone jack to phono (white / Red) cable to connect to TV or surround sound system or your laptop speakers.

David

Wrong - go into the Control Panel - Hardware and Sound - Sound and you can set your HDMI as the default sound device.

How do i get a movie to play from computer to the tv with hdmi

If your TV has an HDMI input - connect up the computer to the TV with an HDMI cable.
Select HDMI on the TV inputs.
Play the DVD on the computer, should appear on TV is Input is set. Sound may be a fiddle ~ check you PC sound settings if there is none.
The computer will usually show a blank screen when the HDMI is going elsewhere,
Good luck

1. mIni hdmi to to tablet
2. hdmi on other end of cable to a hdmi input on tv.
3. go to input on tv and change input where you plugged in hdmi.
4. start your tablet. what ever is on your tablet will now show up on tv. (home screen, movies, e-mail, etc.)
Just a reminder, you have to switch input on tv each time.

Connecting dell mini inspiron with LCD with HDMI cable on both si

You just need a HDMI cable to go from the laptop to the TV. It is refered to as a patch cable. You then go into the TV menu and set it to component or in some cases it will say computer. The VGA on the TV just allows both style interfaces to be connected.

I'm trying to connect my Dell Mini 1010 to a PC to TV Gamebox, so I can watch movies on my TV, but my Mini only has HDMI and the Gamebox is VGA HD15. What do I do?

There's not an easy solution, here. There are HDMI to VGA converters, but they are very expensive (the cheapest I've seen is $150), in large part because they have to re-encode a digital signal to an analog one. May be cheaper to invest in a newer gamebox that can do HDMI.

LG 37LG30 HDMI no sound problem

This is more probably a software fault within the TV. They need instructions for HDMI inputs & a no sound is a related fault. I would get in touch with your dealer to arrange the TV to be updated to cure this problem. Hope this helps.

Dell w3000 & PS3

This may not be DVI issue.
I connected DVD player HDMI ----> DVI ( Dell W3000) LCD TV.
Later I found that Dell TV version of DVI does not support HDCP protocol ( High Definition Content Protection protocol). So I could not play HDMI to DVI movies from my DVD player instead I use Y Pb Pr -- this works ok.

Hope this helps... I am not use PS3 enforces HDCP - I assume Sony linked with Sony Pictures would enforce HDCP on HDMI cable.
