ACPI error message

I have a Epox EP-8rda3i Pro Socket A motherboard, was trying to install WinXP Pro from CD, keep getting error message: acpi error, I removed all my pci cards and only installed my ati video card. Still getting acpi error, can anyone help? Thanks Rob C.

Other issues appeared with the Epox Mobo I had to buy something else. I wanted to use most if not all of my pci cards with the new board, purchased a board by PC Chips M848A V5.0, Socket 462 /ATX. Everything works fine, except when I reinstalled winxp all the programs I want to install XP says "not a valid win32 program". I just want to reinstall MS Office, Adobe Photoshop etc, I don't have any win32 programs. Can someone help me solve this problem? Thanks in advance.

Hey there rcrozier, your solution is to disable ACPI in the BIOS. To do so, follow these steps. 1/ When set up is loading, a blue screen will appear asking if you have RAID devices, indicating pressing F6. Instead press and hold F7. This should prevent ACPI from installing. Alternately at the blue screen mentioned above, press F5 and hold. It should advance eventually to a new screen prompting you to press F2. Keep holding F5. It will give you another screen telling you it cannot recognize your pc type. It gives you two choices: standard pc or other. Choose standard pc. resulting in ACPI not being installed. Unfortunately the other result of this ACPI not being installed is that your power management will be reduced. Overclocking is not advised. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Hey there rcrozier, what I think you are indicating is the windows system trying to convince you not to install programs which they have not approved, or created themselves. The option to continue anyway should be presented to you with the message you were referring to earlier. Just continue anyway and all should be well. Good Luck!

Hi,

This is the problem of RAM in your motherboard, if you have already changed the RAM then clean your RAM socket in motherboard then insert the RAM.

Hello tenkist:
Many error codes in mother boards are similar.

Saying that, you need to get to the maker of the board, and find the information from them.
Sending them an email under support, will most likely solve what you need.
