Our Shaw cable box,Pace PVR,continously BLANKS out for no reason,When it does the guide on the tv says to be anounced for a minute or more! Changing the channel or hitting the channel guide up usually sets it off! Been in contact with Shaw Cable MANY times, even had a techie come in! We have plugged it directly in to outlet & followed everything they suggested,to no avail! Any ideas whats going on? The box is only 1year old! Thank you! Also we even have a replacement & does the same!!!

I have had the same problem and I spoke to a tech at one of the tv repair shops in Edmonton. He says it is a long standing generic problem that Shaw is having with the HDMI connection between the pvr and tv's, I have a pvr replaced twice and the problem remains. The last Shaw tech says to use component cables and it will solve the problem which I believe is an admission that the problem identified by the tv tech is true. Doesn't help with 4 hdmi.and two component inputs

Shaw 630 pvr internal internet connection not working

Hello, Average Dave first you must verify that you have access to the internet, being like this:
1) if you are connected through cable check that both terminals are connected, if it is for Wifi; you can go to settings on your TV and check in Network if you are connected.
2) Reset the device, disconnecting it from the power for 30 seconds and reconnect it.
3) You can contact the customer service to check that they are sending the signal, they can also check the status of the account and your equipment.
and another option would be a factory reset in the Digital Cable Box to start from zero.

How do we connect our system using a Shaw PVR

Do you have a optical/coaxial input on your system? Eg: cable, TV.I use a optical input on my Yamaha ( cable, satellite ). Look to see if there is a optical/coaxial output on your pvr, there should be. Use ether the optical or coaxial output from your pvr and connect it to the cable (satellite ) optical/coaxial input on your receiver. The manual that came with your Shaw PVR should explain how. You will get 5.1 surround if available on certain channels.I prefer optical over coaxial myself, but they both work well.If you don't have optical/coaxial inputs on your receiver, you will have to use RCA cables, analogue out on cable box, to tape input or aux on your receiver. You will not get surround sound, just stereo. But it's better than nothing.

Shaw pvr expander not working

Take your Shaw remote control.
Press SETTINGS.
Use the LEFT/RIGHT keys to highlight PVR.
Click OK.
Use the LEFT/RIGHT/UP/DOWN keys to highlight PVR HISTORY.
Click OK.
Scroll through the entries, looking for any "hardware failed" or "hardware error" messages -- finding any implies a failing disk-drive inside the Expander.
Need more help? Telephone Shaw, and ask for "technical support" for TV/PVR.

Our shaw pvr recording symbols have now turned into snowflake shapes

Disconnect the AC power from the PVR.
Reconnect it.
Wait a few minutes for the device to "call home" to completely reset itself.
Then, press LIST to show the recordings, instead of those "asterisk" characters.
Failing that, telephone Shaw to get free technical support.

Sound drop with Shaw pvr box with hdmi. How do

This is a very common problem with no real solution. If your TV can be programmed to accept separate audio from HDMI video on the same input, you can feed the audio through standard RCA cables. Unfortunately most TV's do not allow this. Alternatively run them into a stereo receiver. Buying high end HDMI cables will not help. Most people I know with this issue have bit the bullet & just used component video instead. The difference in quality is minimal.

Close caption works when I select the input for tv, select hdmi input and the close caption option disappears from the menu. I have a shaw cable pvr hd box and need the close caption to work on all...

You need to turn on closed captions through the menu of your PVR. To have it on all the time, turn the box off, press menu on the front of the box, and scroll down to captions.
This should fix the problem
