    I am unable to login into my speedstream 5100 and all the 3 led is on that is power , ethernet & DSL . But i am unable to connect to Internet. I have check all the connection . And my modem is reset . I have forgotten my user Id : & password : Kindly suggest

These DSL modems are using 10.0.0.1 as their address.

The power light is graan, and ethernet light is green, and the DSL light is green. but the internet and acticity light is not on so i need to upgrade the modem that i hav't used in three years.

Check for physical setup between your modem and the wall jack

When i connect the dsl cable to it the dsl light starts flashing green then red


Put tinfoil over your splice connectors and filters as they leak signals that totally confuse your modem. Never leave any bare wires, I tinfoil the entire modem to prevent the neighbors from hacking me. I don't use wireless, only CAT5 ethernet cable.

How to Configure Belkin routers without installation CD for DSL ISPs :
  • Connect the DSL Modem to Router in the port named Modem (usually yellow in color) using an Ethernet cable.
  • Connect the Computer to the Router in one of the 4 ports named wired (usually grey in color) using another Ethernet cable.
  • Open internet explorer / Firefox / chrome or any of your default web browser.
  • In the address bar type the default gateway address of Belkin router 192.168.2.1
  • Belkin router setup page (RSP) will be displayed.

Wired Part Configuration:
Check for the internet status at the top right hand corner. If it is connected then the wired part is working perfect with the router (wired computers will go online). Need not follow the steps below, directly jump to wireless part configuration.
If it is not connected then we need to configure the wired part by following these steps.
Step 1: You need to LOGIN to the router for making any changes. (No login password, just leave it blank and click SUBMIT)
Step 2: Click on CONNECTION TYPE (found on left side of RSP), it has to be selected as DYNAMIC and click next.
Step 3: HOST NAME leave it blank or you can type anything there and click on APPLY CHANGES.
Step 4: Now check for the internet status at the top right hand corner. If it says connected then everything for the wired part is configured perfectly. You can go ahead and configure for the wireless part.
If it is not connected then we need to do a network power cycle.
Steps to be followed for performing Network power cycle:
  • Unplug the power cable of both your modem and router.
  • Wait for 30 seconds.
  • Plug back the power cable of the modem and wait until all the lights are lit up in it.
  • Now plug back the power cable to the router and check for the lights in the router.

Modem & Internet lights will be lit and they will be solid (blue/green) in the router; it says that the Internet status is connected. Now you will be able to go online in the wired computers.

If still Modem & Internet lights are not solid in the router; it may be blinking in red/ amber it says that the Internet status is not connected. You will not be able to go online in the wired computers.

In this case you need to connect your computer directly to the modem and check whether you are able to go online. If you are not able to go online, then you need to contact your ISP and fix your issue with internet.

The above method is applicable for DSL ISPs only.

A problem has occurred when trying to access the internet. Please check your DSL/Cable connection and verify your internet connection settings. Wtf is this ? Firmware update doesnt helped. .


Cables connection might loosen up. Check cables that runs from the wall jack going into your modem, make sure all cables are tightly plugged in. Also, check indicator light on your device. If DSL light is RED, OFF, flashing red, flashing green. there might be trouble with your Internet provider. DSL light indicator MUST be always on STEADY GREEN. If you see that the DSL light is not on STEADY GREEN status call your Internet service provider.

Ok My friend lets we talk about your solution.
Before all so many questions coming to my main like

what type of Internet connection do you have :
  1. IS DSL you need to know if your connection is Dynamic or PPOE. if you don't know just let me know the name of your Internet provider
  2. if Cable is easy just only need to clone the mac Address of your computer and you will get connected.
Ok my friend let me know if you cant do it and request me a remote your PC.

Note:the model of Belkin do you have is a old model but still usable ok?you lost your connectivity for the activation of security package in to your windows,after you reset your Router all configurations are lose

Lost internet connection, router has a red light on it but i cant connect


Just for you to be aware, a red light on the router means it failed.
Depending on where the red light is, that is where the connection failed, if the red light is on DSL, it means that there is a problem with the server (internet service provider) but if the red light is on INTERNET (authentication failure = router needs to be reconfigure) etc.... to better assist you contact your service provider.

No activity on my new speedstream 4200


Ethernet and DSL lights are indicating you have ADSL available on your line, and that you have computers connected to the router.

What has probably happened is that Optus did not set up the new router with your username and password. Go to thw following website for details on how to setup the modem.

Manual Modem Settings The Optus DSL Broadband self-installation CD configures all the necessary settings for your DSL Broadband service. You do not need to manually configure your modem if you have run the self-installation CD. While the following information is provided for your reference, using the self-installation CD is the recommended method for configuring your modem.
The Siemens SpeedStream 4200 ADSL modem can use either USB or Ethernet to connect to your computer.
  • If you are connecting via USB you will need to run the self-installation CD to install the USB driver before you connect your modem. The Siemens SpeedStream 4200 ADSL modem supplied by Optus has been customised for the Optus DSL Broadband service. Only the USB driver supplied on the self-installation CD will work with the Optus service. If you do not have the self-installation CD, you can download the latest drivers from the Siemens website.
  • If you are connecting via Ethernet it is possible to manually configure your modem without the self-installation CD. Only a web browser is required.
After connecting your modem there are two key steps to manually configure your modem for the Optus DSL Broadband service:
  • PC settings - Configure your computer's Ethernet network interface.
  • Configure Your Modem - Set the password in your modem's configuration pages.

  • Enter http://10.1.1.1 (Default IP address of the Optus Supplied Siemens SpeedStream 4200) to access the modem Configuration software. You may wish to add this page to your Favorites for easy access later.

Dsl light flashes red constantly


Whenever your dsl light on the 2wire modem turns red,it only means that there is a problem with the dsl connection to the modem. Here are some ways on how you can isolate the problem

1. check if your modem is properly connected to the phone jack by unplugging and replugging you phone cable
2. try to reboot the modem
3. if still getting the same lights, contact your ISP

-- who is your internet service provider
-- what is the operating system of your computer?
-- is this working fine before or is this a brand new router

you may try this and see if this help solve your problem. make sure your computer is directly connected to the router

Step 1: Shutdown the computer.
Step 2: reset the router while power on then Unplug the router’s power cable.
Step 3: Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds.
Step 4: Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable.
Step 5: Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable.
Step 6: Power on the computer on and configure the router settings
Step 7: test the Internet connection.

if this still didnot work, upgrade the firmware of your router

note:

configuring the router settings will depends who is your provider. if your isp is dsl you need to configure your ISP username and password on the router. if your router is a cable no need to change any settings on the router. it should automatically work

Try contacting the DSL provider, if not All-Operatingsystems-Lost.
U may try Start-controlpanel-network connections-local area connection-properties
Ensure correct card under connect using.
click on configure.
click on advanced.
reset to auto detect
click ok
reboot
There are sometimes issues with the PPPOE. the DSL provider should be able to resolve this.

Red light


Check that you have all the correct drivers installed, ie....for your ethernet. Look at the back of your pc at the yellow cable, if the light inside the connection isnt flashing, then your pc isnt recognizing your router and it most likely is a driver issue. Open the management console then device manager look for network adapters/controllers if you dont see any you dont have any and this is your problem. Install the correct drivers from your manufacturers web site and this should resolve the issue.
