Anyone know of a source of Zojirushi replacement parts? The plastic frame under the stainless steam shield of the lid of my
Zojirushi CD DEC50, over several years of use, has degraded until it is
now disintegrating into crumbling powder. Without a replacement lid, the
unit is destined for recycling (I hope) or the landfill (I fear). A unit costing
as much as it did should benefit from better material selection. I have
another electric air pot by Fujitronic of the same age (and a third the cost)
that shows no such degradation.
I suggest caution to any who might consider a Zojirushi: relatively expensive
and of questionable materials appropriateness or temperature control stability
--it may be overheating. Neither property is worth $120-$175 US.
You can order this upper lid part online or call Zojirushi 1-800-733-6270 or zojirushi.com, it is cost $16.00 USD for this part plus $3.00 USD for shipping and handling. It is currently out of stock right now, but it will be available in mid-may 2008.
Solution, take the zojiroshi apart and put the element in the bottom of a travel mug.
