Re: sharp lc-26dv12u about 2years old. All of a sudden
Sounds like the Main mother board is the problem. When the processor chip overheats, the programming information passing through the chip slows down. Most cases, replacing the main mother board will fix the problem.

It does this on ALL DVD? It it does, then you have DVD player transport failure and not much you can do to fix it (you can try lens cleaner, but I doubt it). You will be better off spending money on an external DVD player than buying the replacement transport for this TV and I doubt that if you can find a brand new one (I would not buy a used transport).
Hello
First check its main ON/OFF switch for any contact problem. Just repalce it with same type. It can be replaced, and can be bought from most of the electronic sparepart shops at your town. Soem switches will poise this type of probelm. To make it sure, is it with switch, just switch ON your TV and try to get the picture. At this position switch it OFF BY PULLING OUT THE POWER PLUG FROM THE WALL SOCKET; and push it again. If the TV works properly. make sure that the inside contacts of the ON/OFF switch is faulty. If no picture comes at this time. the memory IC inside your TV circuit is faulty and should be replaced. OK.
Sharp list no issues or service tips for this model but I am sure most freeze ups are and issue of weak cable signals or defective cable receivers. If this has truly been elimnated the main digital pcb in the TV could be issue or more likely the TV may need the latest software upgrade. This is most likely only able to be facilitated by a Sharp auth. service center.
