I have a Samsung LCD TV, model # LN40A450 with a PC input. I connected my Dell Vostro 1310 laptap to the PC input and I consistently get a "Mode Not Supported" message on the TV screen. Why? I had a different Dell laptop before my current one which worked fine. Does something need to be set in the controls of the Samsung?

You TV will only accept specific signal formats (modes) through the PC input. Check you user manual for compatible modes. You then need to set screen 2 (your laptop VGA output) to 1 of the compatible formats (PC display settings). A common format/mode example would be 1024 x 768. Try it out and see if you get a picture. You can then increase the resolution 1 at a time to find the best format/mode for your purposes. I hope this was of some assistance.

I have a Samsung LN40A450 LCD TV that is only a year and a half old. I am getting no power to the tv only a consistent blinking red light and a audible clicking/beeping noise. What needs to be replaced?

I will explain how to:

  • Open the case of the LCD
basically in all LCD monitors have two circuit boards (power supply board and system board)
  • After you open you will see the two boards are

  • You see a board that has a socket for the power source. wrote that the board we're looking for (power supply board)
  • Remove all cables connected to the board and take out the board. (get noted before you unplug it)
  • Now you see it components on board, we looking for capacitor.(see picture below)

  • Looking for damaged capacitors, physically you will see a capacitor on the top like a bloated (see picture below)

  • Replace the damaged capacitor with the same value that you can see on the surface of the capacitor. (In this step you need any soldering tool)
My advice: replace capacitors with higher voltage, like 10V replace with 16V or 25V will be fine.

My Dell Vostro 1310 won't turn on. I get a black screen (well actually, a bit of colors are coming, but nothing else ...). Tried again and again to turn on, seems to be a problem with the video card....

check for led lights if they come on.
note down the lights.
If you are able to remove the connection of the lcd to the laptop do so for instruction refer to www.dellsupport.com click on manal

Not supported mode lcd tv samsung lnt4061f

with the PC input or analog SVGA the only 16:9 resolution it supports is 1920x1080, which can be difficult for some older systems to handle. However, on HDMI it should support all the standard HD resolutions.
