Can not ping our netvanta 3200 from behind a Linksys nat router

I can no longer ping our netvanta 3200 from behind a couple of different Linksys NAT routers ... and have no internet connection. However, when I connect a computer directly to the ethernet port on the netvanta with an IP configured exactly like the NAT router, I can get to the internet.

This connection has worked fine for a couple of years ... and just broke a couple of days ago.

Any ideas on troubleshooting?

The switch between the NAT routers and the Netvanta had some faulty ports ... the physical connection was broken. Once the switch was replaced, the internet connection was restored.

Can not get past router to modem and internet. Can ping router from desktop. It seems router is not distributing NAT addresses. What should I do next?

Make sure that you have the right connections. Modem needs to be connected to the internet port on the router and computer needs to be connected to the remaining ports. Lights have to be led up. Open the router page. Go to the status tab and under router, check if there is a WAN address. If not than there is a problem with your modem and router connections. Also check the "router IP" under Basic settings in setup tab. If you have a DSL connection than there are chances for a NAT issue, Therefor you have to provide a different ip address to your router.

Let me know yout findings.

Restricted nat for xbox / linksys 160n router need to open

You are trying to open the NAT on the router for X-box.
For this you will need to reduce the MTU settings on the router to 1365.
You will also need to trigger some ports on the router.
For this you will need to open the router set up page.
Router set up page is the page where you can change the settings of the router

I dont know how to change NAT type.

since NAT has to be set on the Linksys...
you will have to use the software provided by linksys, or use a web based interface which connects to the linksys and you can do the respective changes...!!!

Changing the NAT typer from "moderate" to "open"

Follow these steps to use this solution:
  1. Use the no ip nat {inside | outside}command to disable future translations from taking place.
  2. Use the clear ip nat translation command to clear IP NAT translations.
  3. Change the NAT configuration.
  4. Restore the NAT {inside | outside} arguments with the ip nat {inside | outside} configuration command.RICHARDM69

Router no connecting to the internet

You need to configure NAT on the router to permit the entire LAN to access internet

Example.
LAN Segnment is 192.168.1.0/24

1. Create an access-list to identify the local segment

2. Configure the Nat interfaces properly (NAT-INSIDE, NAT-OUTSIDE)

3. do the NAT configuration

i.e ip nat inside source list (ACLNUMBER) .....

NAT

First, you need to get into the user interface for the router.  To do that, just open your web browser, type in 198.168.1.1 & hit enter.  A login prompt will pop up if you're able to access the router.

If you've never done this before, the username is blank & the password is admin

What, exactly do you want to do with the NAT firewall?

To enable/disable NAT: click on setup, then click on advanced routing.

To filter Internet NAT redirection: click on security, then click on filters.

You can find this information in the User guide provided by LinkSys at:

http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_CASupport_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&cid=1166859876500&displaypage=download

Select your version number, then click on User Guide when it comes up.  User guides & Interfaces for the BEFSR41 are almost identical on every version.
