Screen is too dark

If you can see the icons but the screen is mostly black ( you have to look real close to see the desktop or windows logo) most likely you need a new lcd inverter. I repaired a 1300 series laptop, that had a dark screen, not black, just darker, and the fix was a new motherboard. That would be the second option if replacing the lcd inverter doesnt work. Lcd inverter is about $10 Motherboard is around $50-65 for that model on ebay.

Dell Inspiron 1300 blank monitoe

Hello,

the problem might be from the screen or from the screen inverter.

Connect your laptop to an external monitor and try again.

If there is a display, then its obvious that the problem is from screen or screen inverter of your laptop.

Good luck.

I purchased a replacement inverter for my husband's Dell Inspiron 1300 Laptop (14.1" screen) on Ebay. I noticed when I got it that the little screw hole on the left was on the bottom left while the hole on...

The inverter simply converts DC power from the adapter into high voltage AC power for the backlight in the LCD....if you are having distortion problems or anything else other than the brightness of the LCD, you are either looking at a cable issue or a bad LCD panel.

I swiched off my laptop inspiron 1000 at the off switch. when I put it back on the back light did not work

how do you know it is the backlight? Usually people think that's it but it is the inverter.
f the backlight of your laptop stopped working and the image on the screen is so dim that you can barely see it under bright light, most likely you have a failed inverter board. There is a good chance to fix the problem if you replace the inverter board. If you replace the inverter board but the image is still dim, most likely there is a problem with the backlight lamp inside the LCD screen. If that's the case, try to replace the LCD screen. Note: it's much easier to disassemble the laptop display panel when the display panel is separated from the laptop.

I can definitely fix either way if you are out of warranty from dell.
Good luck! EJ Kudelka [email protected] 516-860-2969

Screen is black laptop on but have to screen

I believe the inverter on the screen is broken. If you are able to see a dim image on the screen with the computer on, then you need to have the inverter replaced.

It's a faulty backlight (screen).
Replace screen (same dell part number) with inverter, otherwise screen can be dark.

My Dell Inspiron 1300 wont start

You could have a defective screen - a defective inverter or a CCFL lamp.
To determine if you have a LCD screen or video card problem, read this and follow the instructions.

Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom:
  • Screen flashs on red/pink and off.
  • Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal.
  • Picture flickering with dim display or appear black.
  • Picture flickering on and off.
All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Dell inspiron 1300 back light problem

All laptops have a backlight and an inverter to power it, and the problem you have is very common. Usually replacing the inverter board in the display fixes the trouble. There are a number of vendors online offering replacement parts. Here is one that just popped up after a Google search. You can also find videos on youtube showing the procedure for opening up the display to install the new part. It's a simple process that most people can handle with a little patience and some small tools.

It's also possible the light itself has gone bad, but the inverter failure is more common. The backlight on some displays is not replaceable separately. So try the less expensive inverter replacement first.

Screen will not stay on

The first thing to check is the LCD or Screen inverter. It is a small board that at the bottom of screen. You have to open up the plastic part of the screen or LCD. Usually this part goes bad.
