This is just a free planetarium software. No big deal. They are available for FREE on the internet.

Download the free planetarium software called Stellarium. Download the MAC version. Install it on your computer and put in your location.

It will show you the sky for any time or date. Also download the free monthly star chart at www.skymaps.com

The back page tells you what is visible in the sky.

The screws can be found at any hardware store, the eyepieces can be bought at many on-line retailers. Here is one:

The software is nothing but a planetarium program and you can download a better one for free here:

The spreader (tripod) is NOT really needed but will help stabilize the tripod-- you can make one that will work just fine out of wood.

Clear skies!

How many times can this telescope Edu-Science - Astro-Gazer - 70 Telescope see up to

The general rule is 50 times aperture. Your scope is about 2.5 inches-- so 50 times 2.5 or about 125 power--- MAXIMUM and only when the sky is very stable and transparent.

I purchased a Edu Science 70mm Astro-Gazer telescope for my son for Christmas and discovered that the finderscope that came with it is showing everything upside down. I returned it and the new telescope...

Astronomical telescopes usually show an upside down image. There is a good reason for this- erecting the image needs more bits of glass in the light path, which reduces the amount of light and increases aberrations. Even if this is only slight, astronomers prefer to avoid it, and they don't really care which way up the Moon or Jupiter appear.

The main scope is probably also designed this way, but many amateur scopes now come with an erecting prism or eyepiece attachment that turns the image upright. You may have fitted this and not realise that it is an add-on, and that it is un-natural for an astronomical scope to display upright images.

I have a edu science 70mm Astro-Gazer. I lost the manual and forgot how to use it. I have 4mm and 20mm lens and I can see moon via 20mm lense. But how can I use 4mm or 3X part to magnify the view ? Thanks!

That little scope will NEVER be able to use the 4mm with the 3xbarlow, just too mmuch magnification. The maximum possible magnification for ANY telescope is about 50 times aperture.

Your scope is about 3 inches so 150 power is the maximum.

Hello..... my son's telescope broke at the base where the tripod legs connect. We bought it at Toys R Us about 14 months ago. The model is Astro-Gazer 70. Is there a place to get a replacement base?

No sorry. This is just about the worst telescope you can buy. We get more complaints on that brand than just about any other. You might find something at a well stocks hardware store that you can use to fix it???

But why even try to fix it. Buy your son this telescope instead.

It says nothing about their software working on a Mac. Sigh.
