I cannot get my i pod touch to accept my Wep key

Hello,

I have been given a 1st generation i-pod touch which i was using te internet on. I have come home and it won't accept my WEP key. When i drill into the router i see four keys listed, and the other three look as though its accepted but then Safari says no internet connection!

Help! (I am not technically gifted! so basic help first would be much appreciated!)

Thank you,

:-)

I was given an i pod shuffle as a gift from a friend but when i went to apple support the i pod had been disabled. how do i fix it so that i can put my own apple itunes on. thanks anne marie

To reset iPod shuffle:
  1. Disconnect iPod shuffle from the computer (if connected).
  2. Move the switch on the iPod shuffle to the OFF position. Note that when iPod shuffle is off, the green stripe by the switch is not visible. ht1655_1.gif ht1655_2.gif ht1655b_3.gif ht1655--4th_shuffle-001-en.png
    1st generation 2nd generation 3rd generation 4th generation
  3. Wait five seconds. For iPod shuffle (3rd and 4th generation), wait ten seconds.
  4. Move the switch to the play in order or the shuffle position. The green stripe will be visible in either position. For iPod shuffle (2nd and 4th generation), slide the power switch on (and you can see the green stripe).

Not able to connect the sons Nitendo DSi to the internet. They are asking for the WEP Key but on my home hub there is only a WPA Key. BT have told me to connect to you to ask for support.

If your using WPA and your Nintendo DS only supports WEP Encryption theres no way you can connect it to the internet. WEP encryption is different from WPA.

WEP key uses hexadecimal - using characters 0-9, A-F or ASCII format. The ASCII format is easier to remember. The ASCII string is converted to HEX over the network.

Example of WEP key encryption are:

*64-bit hexadecimal keys are exactly 10 characters in length. (12345678FA is a valid string of 10 characters for 64-bit encryption.)
*128-bit hexadecimal keys are exactly 26 characters in length. (456FBCDF123400122225271730 is a valid string of 26 characters for 128-bit encryption.)
*64-bit ASCII keys are exactly 5 characters in length (DMODE is a valid string of 5 characters for 64-bit encryption.)
*128-bit ASCII keys are exactly 13 characters in length (2002HALOSWIN1 is a valid string of 13 characters for 128-bit encryption.)

WPA Key is entered as a pass phrase between 8 to 63 alphanumeric characters in the ASCII format at both ends of the wireless connection. Although PSK accepts a minimum of eight characters, for proper security, it is a good idea to use ample length and should not use a commonly known phrase. This phrase is used to generate session keys that are unique for each wireless client.

To resolved the issue you have an option to change the WirelessSettings on your router to WEP instead of WPA since WEP is also a secured netwrok. however you need to keep in mind that if you change the encryption you need to configure all othere device connected to the router via WPA and change the settings to WEP.

I need a wep key for psp to get on the internet

The WEP key is generated BY the Router, you need to go into the Router and discover the WEP key, or simply generate a new one and use that... a WEP key can just be considered a numerical "Password" Check your manual about WEP/WAP Keys.

Can't connect ipod touch to it

Hello
You will need to enter the wireless wep or wireless code into the ipod.

Log onto your routers homepage using 192.168.1.0 or 192.168.1.1
Once there find your wireless settings and copy the code onto the i pod.

Do this in the network settings page of the i pod.You will need to register your i pod at i tunes.

Thanks.

Can't connect wirelessly as it won't accept my password.

Hello paulclarke88;

What your router is asking for is a secure wep login. You can provide this number by loging into your router directly, and go to the securty section of the menu, and generate a new wep key. It will then generate a key, that you should write it down, because this new key is what will give you access with your Acer. Typically the Dlink login is ip address 192.168.0.1 Usernames admin Password
is left blank.

Good Luck and don't forget to leave a rating.

Thanks Mark

I cant get my I Pod Touch to connect to my Livebox. I have put in every password I can think of including the 26 digit Livebox one - any ideas. It is so frustrating to have been given my I Pod as a...

You need to out the Livebox into pairing mode to allow the iPod Touch to connect.
Press the button marked '1' on the back of the Livebox. This will start the wireless LED flashing and puts the Livebox into 'Pairing' mode.
Use the WEP key that is printed on the label on the bottom of the Livebox.
NOTE: There is a limit to the number of devices you can connect.(6)

Ipod Touch can't connect to WiFi

MY only solution was reset my i-pod touch, and after reset it's working very well my Wi-Fi.

To reset your i-pod touch just go to settings
you will find reset button.

Alternately, check your router to see if it actually sees the i-pod.

Try re-synching your i-pod.

Also try resetting your router with the i-pod off then after router resets turn i-pod back on. Should find then..

Hope this helps.

Password for belkin54g

There is no default WEP / WPA key for belkin54g routers. The default password to access the setup is blank. Try going to 192.168.2.1 in internet explorer (where you would usually type the address of the site in), and see if you can find out the WEP / WPA Key.
