KitchenAid KSM150PS Artisan Series Stand Mixer Logo
Anonymous Posted on Dec 29, 2009

We just purchased the custom kitchen aid stand mixer on a boxing day special. We used it tonight to make cookies and then could not remove the bowl from the base. We are going to try the icecubes. If this problem persists Kitchenaid will be hearing from me!! I might have got the mixer on sale but it was still a heafty sum of money to purchase. And I thought Kitchenaid mixers lasted forever and rarily had issues.

The bowl screws into the base and can get quite tight if the mixer has been turning thick dough or other mixes. We usually tap the handle on the bowl with the palm of our hand a few times and that generally frees it. The other posibility is that the bowl was put into the base slightly askew. This could be more of a problem as this can cause the base plate to get damaged. Usually though if this happens you would have noticed some bad noises almost instantly you turned the mixer on.

Is a kitchen aid model # KSM5PSAC the same as KSM150SP?

The KSM5 and the KSM150 are different mixers. They are both 5 quart mixers and use the same gearing and motor. However the bowl design is different. The KSM5 is a 5 quart bowl lift, which means the bowl locks into the arms of the mixer and raises towards the head of the mixer, where the ksm150 mixer is a artisan mixer, which is also a 5quart mixer, but the head of the mixer tilts back and the bowl twists into the base ring to lock into place. These two mixers will take different bowls and beaters.

Kitchen aid stand mixer bought in US, moving to Europe, 220v 50hz

I can not respond to the warranty issues. My kitchen aid mixer is past warranty as well. I live in a country that uses 220V and my kitchen aid mixer is 110V. I have been using my kitchen aid mixer for almost 4 years with no problems at all.

The converter boxes are supposed to blow the fuse on the converter before it reaches your appliance and cause any problems.

If you purchase a 220V kitchen aid (although it would cost more money) it would probably have more power because of the higher voltage.

Hope this helps!

Food made with KitchenAid Stand mixer tastes like grease

The likelyhood of grease coming from the mixer is extremely small. As long as the beater & bowl were washed first and the shortening you used was fresh, there shouldn't be a grease taste.

Beater rubbing bottom of bowl

This sounds like an issue of beater to bowl adjustment, which can come out of alignment naturally over time and with use of the machine.

If the flat beater is striking the bottom of your bowl, this may cause the locking mechanism to loosen and may cause the mixing head to "bounce" during use.

Your Use and Care Guide will cover the "beater to bowl adjustment," which you can do at home in a few minutes with a flathead screwdriver.
