I am trying to set up my email on my iphone. It keeps telling me that my password or user name is wrong. I know it is correct.....or at least the same username and password that I always use. What else can I do?

I was also experiencing many issues with the iphones email system but have managed to find a fix.

Simply tap settings on the home screen.

Then tap the mail icon on the bottom of the settings screen.

Click Add Account (for an easier interface to modify)

In the add account screen click the 5th option down entitled "other"

Now by default the iphone has the imap tab highlighted, instead you will need to tap the "POP" tab instead

Now that thats out of the way Insert your name in the name tab.

Next insert your email address this will account will reflect (enter the whole thing as in [email protected]

Next you add your description in to help you identiy what email your going to check. for example (Comcast.net Or Jacks email)

Now under the incoming mail server part type in "mail.comcast.net" (without the "")

The username tab requires you to type in your username that you log on to comcasts web email with (somtimes different from your actual email address) (example) email is [email protected] and username is dogman6.

Under the password line type in your password you log onto comcasts web email with

Finally under the outgoing mail server (smtp) list type the list as follows.......

Host Name smtp.comcast.net:465
User Name Same as the incoming
Password Also the same as the incoming

Click the save button and your done. now the email should send and recieve without any issues. If you do experience a problem go to comcast.net and go into you web email account. Then under the settings change the options to allow a non ssl account to assces the email.
That should do it good luck

You need to set it up with POP not IMAP

SSL is the secure socket layer. SSL provides encrypted flow of traffic for your email. If your provider does not have SSL, you will need to connect without this additional level of security.

Gmx settings

It depends on the email account. Most outgoing servers are set to smtp.domain. For example, for a Yahoo account it's smtp.yahoo.com or smtp.comcast.net, etc
