Try the Free Decoder addon K-Lite Codec Pack 5.51 posted on FileHippo.com. If not.... the Video Card may have a Driver Update and that should include the Decoder Software for TV or Cable.

Windows media centre decoder in use

Media centre can use a numnber of codecs to do this job, you just need to make sure it has a choice. You need to download & install a codec pack. Microsoft has one which you can find on the website but the most comprehensive one is KL Codec pack. Google it & install the standard version, just use all the default settings & that will fix your problem.

When I try to run my live tv I get a message that files needed to display video are missing or corrupt and it asks me to restart the Media Center. I did that but it did not resolve the issue.

I think this refers to the MPEG decoders required to show TV in media center.
You need to install Power DVD or a stand alone decoder from NVidia or ATI

Windows Media center recorded TV playback

Some possible causes can be system heat causing the video card to freeze. Sometimes it can also be related to the video driver or MPEG2 decoder. Make sure to use the right decoder and filter for the video playback.

Your video card or drivers not compatible

Try reinstalling your video card driver with the original drivers disk provided with the computer, otherwise you might want to try a diffrent player.
