MVI video to AVI video for SMPK8858 not working

I have a Sylvania SMPK8858 MP3 Player and I tried to convert a MVI video from my camera to AVI for the player but it just says 'wrong file format'. I used a AVI Converter that came in the cd that came with the player. I tried, but it did not work. So I was wondering how to convert MVI video to the Sylvania SMPK8858 MP3 Player.Thanks

Use a converter to convert your files to FLV. Like i said in an earlier post. this is the only way to get them to play opn this player. The instructions and disc that came with it are useless! LOL

    MVI format is produced by most digital still cameras, which are capable of shooting a limited amount of video, and because there is no tape, it is saved as an MVI file format. And MVI file extension generally means that the file is uncompressed, and will take up quite a bit of space, and can only be handled by a limited number of programs. So you may have problem to play, edit or use these digital videos.

    If you would like to convert MVI video to AVI, you have to use a MVI decoder, the program I am suing is Aunsoft Video Converter to transcode my MVI video from my Canon camcorder. This program has a good performance in converting mvi footages to other video formats without losing quality.
    This program works fine for me.

Maybe you can try Aunsoft Video Converter, it can convert MVI to most standard AVI format for SMPK8858.

Well, as we know, some cameras such as SX10 produces video in MVI format. And many of us would like to play camcorder video with media player or edit camcorder video with WMV. However, They does not recognize MVI files.

So what you should do is to convert your camcorder MVI video to WMV or AVI first with a video converter program, then import the converted videos to WMV for further enjoyment.

After the download unzip the zip file.
Explore in the folders for the folder Video Convert Tool:
Sylvania SMPK8858 \ SYL_SMPK8858_DRIVER \ SMPK8858 \ Video Convert Tool .
Install the convert tool by running (double click) the Setup.exe file inside that folder.

When you've run the firmware update setup.exe file from CD or download use the AVIConverter.
After the update you'll find the program under Program Files \ AVIConverter.

Hello,

Before transferring video from the computer to the SMPK8858, the video must be in the matching avi format for the player.
The avi converter for this player can be installed by running the CD that came with the player.

The file format WMV, RM, AVI, VOB or DAT could be converted to AVI format by the AVIConverter.

When not having the CD at your disposal get a download of the zip file,
going to next link:

Right click the link above and select "Save Target As..." to save the file
to a location on your computer.
When the download has completed, unzip the zip file and run the Setup.exe file in the submap Video Convert Tool.
When the installation of the AVIConverter is ready, use the program for converting videos.

Transfers of the converted videos can be performed by connecting the USB cable between the USB port of the player and the computer.
Explore the folder on the computer for the converted videos and put them onto the player, seeing the device as a removable disk of about 8 GB or onto the micro SD card of max. 2 GB (when available).
Use the commands "copy and paste" or the "drag and drop method", just like copying files from the computer to an external USB memory stick or hard drive.

Sylvania SMPK8858 won't play movies. Keeps saying format error
I downloaded a video to flash converter from this site http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/products/dvd/Free-Video-to-Flash-Converter.htm and all the videos i run through that program work. I've tried AVI and other videos that were in flash and none worked in the player, but once I run them through the flash converter they play perfectly.
