I have a Profile Performance convection/microwave combo oven, model JEB1095CB, which is about 10 years old. A week ago when I was reheating food; as soon as I pressed "Start," there was a slight "thump" which was different than the usual sound of the microwave starting. The fan and light came on...everything seemed normal except that the food wasn't heating. The convection oven still works fine but the microwave seems dead.

You probably have a bad thermistor.
You can usually find
helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full
model number here.
(At that site, that part is misspelled as "thermister" for your model).
There
should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the
control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is
very
helpful
when troubleshooting & testing.
At
our Web site, we have a video
available showing how to remove a typical
over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.
Accessing some components for testing will require you to remove the oven from the wall.
If
so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have
two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.
You can download GE
owner's manuals and installation instructions here.
We're
happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your
thoughtful rating of our answer.

Likely takes a torx wrench or some other special star tool to open it.
Could be a bad relay a bad mag tube or a bad timmer or a bad door switch. Needs to be trouble shooted. You have to get it open and check the fuses and test the voltage on the pri transformer first.

Chances are that the thermostat / thermal cutout / T.C.O. (whichever it uses) has opened.
This can happen when the magnetron overheats, either due to it's failing, or if the internal cooling fan is not working.
It may also that be the 15- or 20A ceramic line fuse or the oven cavity thermostat / thermal cutout / T.C.O. (whichever it uses) has opened.

You should be able to
get the fuse from a home center or local appliance parts store.
