How to hook up a Wii to a Denon AVR 1708

Cannot get my Wii to work with the Denon avr 1708, only audio seems to be working when i hook it up through the aux on the front of the unit. Not sure what course of action to take. I have read that a lot of people are having trouble with PS3s and XBOX360s with this unit and they talk about using HDMI cables, I did not think it would be that difficult with the Wii not even having an HDMI cable....Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you are video switching through the Denon, you may need to make sure the inputs (analog, composite) are the same as the outputs. For example, you might have component out to the monitor, but composite in from the Wii. I don't believe the 1708 can do the upconversion. Try hooking up a yellow RCA cable from video out to the TV.

How do I unlock the panel on my Denon AVR-1708?

Power the unit off using the On/Off button. (not the larger On/Standby button) While the unit is powered off, press and hold the "Speaker B" and "Mode" buttons. Without releasing those buttons, power the unit back on. This will unlock the panel.

My Denon AVR 1708 display shows "h/p only", which

Hi
H/P means Headphone .. if you plugged a Headphone or if the plug switch internally switched to H/P you have to check it out .
you might have broken the plug inside or some parts are left in there.

I have the denon avr-1708 receiver and inifinty tss-1200 speaker set up. I know the speakers are hooked up correctly because it plays FM radio just fine, but I CANNOT get it to do any type of surround...

I'm not familiar with this particular model, but it should be a option (or button) labeled "input", or "input mode", or "signal mode". Can you see on display "ANALOG" or DIGITAL when you switch receiver to TV in?

No picture

the reason you can't get a signal is the denon 1708 will not pass the 1080p, switch the DVD output res. to 1080i or 720p and it will work

Denon AVR 887 Upconversion With Wii

I have this hookup and it's working almost perfectly:

Wii --component--> Avr-887 --HDMI--> Sharp LCD TV

Sometimes the pictures don't show up during start up, but I figured it was (probably) due to Sharp's HDMI handshake issue, so I turned the TV off and then on, everything works.
