Subwoofer connection Carver Surround 5.1 speaker set-up with Harman Kardon AVR 147 receiver has single RCA-type subwoofer output. Subwoofer has dual-right/left RCA input and output connections OR speaker terminals. HK suggested using a Y connector for RCA connection Any issues with this set-up? Thanks

Actually, A common practice in the audio world is to send a MONO signal from the receiver to the subwoofer. The LEFT (WHITE) input on the subwoofer will bridge the connection producing optimal performance for your subwoofer. try this connection -- 1 RCA cable from the output of the receiver to the LEFT (WHITE) input of the SUB. Turn on the LFE (Low Frequency Effect) switch on the subwoofer and make sure the Phase setting is (IN PHASE 0 degrees).

If this is ao powered sub, that plugs into the wall, there should be no problems, if it is powered solely by the reciever it may work fine but be sure you dont exceed amperage on the subwoofer.

Explain connections - harmon kardon 130 to 4 jbl satellite speakers one middle speaker and seperate jbl subwoofer 140/230

Hello Ranasinghe, you must connect a JBL satellite for each Main L and R output (2 speakers in total)
Connect one JBL for each Surround L and R output (2 speakers in total)
The middle speaker, to the output of the Central channel and the subwoofer, if active or powered, to the RCA subwoofer output on the amplifier
This way you would have all the speakers connected in the Harman Kardon 130

Hi There, I have a Marantz SR7005 Receiver and Bose 901 Series VI speakers with the Bose equalizer. I'm struggling to figure out the best way to connect the Bose equalizer/speakers to the SR7005. ...

It sounds like you've read one of my many posts on 901 deployment in the AV world.

Functionally, what is the difference between one amp with 'x' channels or 'x' mono amps? Nothing. Pre-outs don't know or care what else an external amp does.

According to this link http://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/products/new/642968.html those amps are 2- and 5-channel, respectively.

There was a time when I had two bridged-mono Carver Cube atmps (at a real 400 watts) pushing one 901 each but that was big time overkill.

I now use a Carver AV-406 (functionally the same as your MM7055) with the 901 EQ in between the AV Receiver's front pre-outs and two 110-watt channels. Other channels on the AV-406 pull subwoofer and surround back duties. My AVR directly powers only the center and surround speakers.

The MM7025 would work for you.

How do i connect my boston acoustics pv800 subwoofer to my Harmon Kardon AVR 520 reciever?

You need to use the LINE LEVEL connection on the pv800 (usually a rca type connector cable) and run this cable into the back of the HK 520 Subwoofer PRE-OUT connector, be sure the HK Receiver menu speaker set-up option is set to SUBWOOFER "YES"

My receiver doesn't have a dedicated subwoofer output, can I still hook up a subwoofer? I have a harmon kardon avr 25

That would depend mostly on your subwoofer. There are some that slave off the front left and right speaker outputs and still pass the amp's power to the Front Speakers. That would be the only way that would ensure volume control.

Otherwise you have to feed a self-powered sub from the Tape Outs but that won't allow volume control from the H-K.

Dayton sub-100 connection

You have it upon one of several truly odd "standards" in the AV industry but the answer is simple if not quite logical. You will use an RCA type cable from the Sub out or LFE on the receiver to just one of the two inputs on the subwoofer. I usually use the one on the right but it really doesn't matter. The other connectors would be for a system with out a sub out where the speaker wire would be run first to the subwoofer and then out to the speakers. This will not be used at all in your case.

Harmon Kardon receiver not compatable connection to subwoofer.

Most subwoofers with RCA type connections are powered subs. They are commonly sold in most hi-fi stores.
Unless your subwoofer has a separate mains lead it will be the wrong type I think.

I have Harman Kardon speakers and subwoofers connected to a Denon AVr 1508 receiver. All my five speakers are working but my subwoofer doesnt work. I m pretty sure I have connected the subwoofer properly...

There is a setting under your speaker setup to turn the subwoofer on. If speakers are set to small it auto matically sets the subwoofer to ON. If the speakers are set to large it turns the subwoofer off but you can manually adjust.
