I cant connect. Verizon says there is no problem with the dsl line. My Westell 6100 modum is on and the dsl light is blinking constantly. Someone told me to double check my IP address? I'm not sure how to do that or if it is what I should do...any suggestions? I have a HP pavillion (only 4 months old) so I don't think it's the computer.

A blinking DSL light means that you have no DSL sync -- you are not receiving a digital signal. You will need to contact your ISP to have them repair your service.
Steps to do first:
1. Powercycle the modem -- unplug the power from the back for 15 secs, plug it back up.
2. Ensure that all phones that share a line with the DSL have filters attached.

whenever the connection drops, is the DSL light blinking? because, it is just normal for the E1 light to blink, but the DSL light should be solid at all times.
It can be a possible issue with the cable or the LAN card, but you still need to have your line checked by Verizon to make sure that it is not a modem or a network issue.
Wellll....since it seemed an impossible task, I tried the next best thing.
I bought a wireless adapter for the other pc and voila! they are on the internet, and I am returning the router.
Westell modem + Verizon DSL w/usb = No connection to router.
make sure that your old setup not still on go to connect to from the start and right click on the connection and see the one that you are using is present
I have a westell 6100 modem also- The light your are talking about always blinks- it blinks as long as the internet is working (it is sending and transmitting data)
Your dsl line stays the same. you're only changing your dsl equipment.
if you are not able to go online using the 327w, you might need to have it configured depending on the type of connection that you have. if you are using PPPoE (which means you enter a username and password on the modem to connect to verizon) you need your 327w configured for pppoe. but if you are using DHCP connection, any modem or routers should be plug and play.
Most verizon customers from the west coast uses DHCP while those on the east coast uses PPPoE.
You can call tech support to make sure which type of connection you are using.
Blinking light means that firmware on your DSL modem just got updated. The modem is pinging the Networ/Computer connected to it. If you open your Modem Page 192.168.1.1 you will see the difference, unless you never have done it before.
That means that the phone is interfeering with the broadband. Often you fix this kind of problems by replacing the broadband filter. If it does not work after replacement it means there is a problem either with phone line or with broaband provider. In this case contact first ISP (broaband provider), then your phone company to locate the problem. Most likely it is the filter.
for westell 6100 modem usb driver installation follow the steps for windows xp -close all programs -unplug usb cable from the pc -insert installation cd from verizon -plug usb cable back to pc -wizard will pop up found new hardware -click next then follow instructions -select usb connection on the installation
