Why is there white dots appearing on my expensive 61 inch samsung. First it was 2 dots 5 days ago now there are 5 spots and counting.

It sounds like the mirror array is playing up. Maybe caused, as it is mechanical, by dust.
If it is still under warranty, I would have it looked at, if not request a Samsung Authorised DLP Technician takes a look for you. If you are in Europe Samsung may look at it with a view to helping when it comes to repair cost.
Good luck

White spots are just emerging on my 46inch

There seems to be an issue with your DMD board, which is the on in charge of the pixelation. What you can do to confirm if it's indeed the DMD board, is the following: GO to the menu on the TV and if the dots show in the menu, it's your DMD board, but if they don't the issue might be with one of your Video Boards.

White spots

You seem to have an issue either with the video board or the dmd board, do the next thing, with the Tv on go to your service menu, is the white spots are still there, it's most probable that your dmd board is failing, if not, the issue is with your video board.

Samsung DLP with white spots

Hello rockel, As the commercial goes, "It's the mirrors" and that is exactly what it is. The DMD (digital micromirror device) DLP chip that is the problem. The areas that are white are due to stuck or malfunctioning mirrors. This will only get more pronounced as time goes on. The fix is to replace the DLP chip and or module. I would advise that you get a qualified TV technician to do this. I hope this helps Thank you, Shuttle83 http://www.electron-age-technologies-llc.com

Numerous white spots on Smasung DLP TV

If your Mitsubishi TV has white spots in the picture , you can call Mitsubishi @ 1-800-332-2119 and request a free DLP Chip to fix the problem. They will send the New DLP Chip at no charge to a TV Tech in your area to install it for $200 flat rate. That is about a $250 savings if you had to pay for the chip . Call them with your TV's Model number and serial number and let them know when and where you bought the TV.
It saved me some hard earned money and now my TV is like New !

Numerous white spots on Smasung DLP TV

same problem for me ... check out this thread on AVSforums about it.

I have the same exact tv as you and had the same problem. I took it to a repair shop who told me I needed a new DMD chip and that it would be 850 to fix. I used the information in thread above to get the part number and bought the chip on ebay for under 200. Here is a link to the listing CHIP

People have had good success. I will be replacing mine tomorrow.

White spots on screen and growing every day

If these spots are small, they are likely the visual effect of a failing DLP chip. When some of the tiny mirrored surfaces on the chip stop moving, this is the result. This is not something you can fix yourself. A Samsung authorized service center will charge $400-$500 to replace it for you.

Worked a charm on my 50" Samsung DLP. Read thread carefully as there are 2 different version of the DMD chip you will need to replace. I ended up fixing mine for less than $165!
