Suddenly I am getting NOT OPTIMUM MODE with my monitor
NOT OPTIMUM MODE problem,
Solder a 50 ohm precision resistor between pins 5 and 6 of the Novatek NT68F63LG
I had this same problem on 3 Samsung 710N displays and this fixed the problem.
I have read others have also been successful but the value of theresistor was slightly different in some cases. I would start with 50ohms as that seems to be a common value fixing most displays.
Here is the reference URL to the ORIGINAL person that solved the problem.

In addition to NOT Optimum mode floating around cannot get the Menue.
You just reset the setting of your monitor just try look the manual for your guide to reset the default setting.

The problem is when the monitor is on for a long time, when turned off and
on again there is a box floating around saying "not optimum mode". When switched off and left for a few hours, it works normaly
I have same problem. What's going on?
I have got lots of troubles with my syncmaster 710. It worked fine for 2 years.
My problems:
When I start the computer I sometimes get a black screen, no display.
Whem I start my computer in safe mode, again I get a black screen and sometimes a box that says "not optimum mode, recommended: 1280x1024 60Hz". But when I change the setting to this recommended resolution... then I get again the message: "not optimum mode, recommended: 1280x1024 60Hz."
I have tried everything:
installing the driver of the monitor again, hardware acceleration on the slowest possible mode setting, etc...
