Question about Nikon 35-70mm f/2.8D AF Zoom-Nikkor Lens

1 Answer

Nikon zoom nikkor 35-70mm lense zoom is stiff.

Hello,
I got a Nikon zoom nikkor 35-70mm lense, which I use on a Nikon FM2n fully manual film camera. The zoom component of the lense has become rigid and does not move well. It usually is fluid in motion but now takes some effort to move it. It may have taken a small blow yesterday, but it was apparently functioning well until today when I was testing the DOF lever and lense release button. Pushing the lense release button seemed to make it not move at all, which seemed odd. Anyway, it is not zooming in and out well.Wondering if you could help. Thank you.

What is 55-200mm?

That's the focal range of a zoom lens. Unlike a single focal-length lens (or a "prime" lens) a zoom lens lets you adjust the focal range. "55-200mm" specifies the lens's focal range from 55mm at the low end to 200mm at the long end.

You can read a general description of zoom lenses at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoom_lens

Nikon current has two different 55-200mm lenses:

If you're asking about the L110, it has a permanently-affixed lens and will not use either of the above lenses.

Does the nikon nikkor af 70-210mm telephoto lens fit on a nikon d3000?

Yes. The smaller sensor of the D3000 will make it the equivalent of about a 105-315mm lens on a 35mm film or full-frame digital camera. Also, the autofocus will not work with the D3000.

Hi. Is the Nikon AF Nikkor 20-35mm 1:2.8D made for Nikon's digital cameras? Is it compatible with their whole line or just some? Thanks

No. The lens will work with every Nikon film or digital SLR made in the past three decades or so, though of course the autofocus won't work on older cameras that don't support AF.

Is Nikon D90 camera compatable to use on below mentioned lens

Yes. The lens will autofocus and meter properly on the D90. Be aware that the D90's DX sensor will give you the same field of view that a 105-315mm lens would give you on a 35mm film camera.

Nikon 18-55 zoom lens doesn't autofocus

You might like to check if the A/M slider switch on the lens by the Nikon label is set to A.
It sometimes gets moved accidently.
Set to M the lens will not autofocus.
