Plantronics Bluetooth Headset P590

My headset will not power on or charge. I have the bluetooth Plantronics P590. Worked great yesterday. Just a few months old and haven't had any problems until today when I thought my battery was dead and I plugged them in to charge. Won't charge off the computer USB charger or the wall plug in so, shouldn't be a charger cord problem. Any thoughts?

My son has the same headset and we plugged his into my charger from the wall and his worked fine. The problem is with the P590 itself. I had left it on by while it was plugged into the wall. When I cam back to use it days later , Inoticed it was switched on by .

I have a Pulsar P590 also. My problem is that when I'm pairing it, it doesn't blink red and blue. I've used it for about 4 months and there's no problem pairing it with my phone. Right now it's a mess...and there telling me to buy half the price to exchange it with my stupid headset...******** Plantronics!

I have to push real hard to make the connection between the charging cable and the headset work. Pretty soon, I'm sure it will stop working altogether.

I have the same problem, my headset won't charge at all, the charger is working as that charges the bluetooth device that comes with the headphones however no life in the headset. Bascially it ran out of juice and now it won't take a charge.

    All help gratefully received.

Same problem. Headphones won't charge. I've been using them on a regular basis for over a year and just this morning stopped wanting to charge. The bluetooth device still charges with no problems. Is there a battery replacement part number out there we can order?

  • ilusi0nz Dec 13, 2008

Interestingly enough, I've only used my P590 headset for about a week until the battery died. I've now charged it for 2+ weeks, and still no light while it charges, or upon attempting to turn it on. I have NO clue what to do, there are no extra switches on the adapter, or the actual headset itself...it appears to not respond...

I don't know what to do...

ditto. but this is my 8th replacement!

Unit wont charge or LED light will not go on during charging. I had let the battery run low, but it still works. I had a similar problem with a camera battery charging system where it would not charge if the battery was dead ( that is dumb but true). I hooked it up to a 9V battery to get it charged over the "lower" limit. That worked. I will try it with this unit but don't hold out hope.

Same problem and on the 3rd set already. No longer in warranty, so dismantled.
Apparently, the charging connector goes into the right ear, where some circuitry must determine charge capacity and cutoff, because a cable is then run to the left ear, providing audio and power directly to the battery. The circuitboard that connects to the battery is just wiring: no logic circuits, so all the logic must be in the right ear, which is impossible to dismantle without destroying the metal cap securing the voice tube.

This is a "known issue" that I have raised to Plantronics. Whether they do anything about it, remains to be seen. The workaround I have discovered seems to work with both of my P590 headphones that stopped charging:

1. Plug in the USB charging cable to a laptop or computer that is powered on.
2. Connect the USB charging cable to the headphones
3. Connect the 3.5mm headphone cord cable to the headphone output on the laptop of computer (this is the long cable with the normal 3.5mm stereo plug at each end)
4. Plug the other end of the 3.5mm cable into the P590 input.

The headphones should start charging.

Thank you so much Carlos!!! I received these headphones as a gift about a decade ago and they were my favourite so I was quite upset when a couple years ago they wouldn't charge for me. I packed them away in a box in hopes that I might be able to fix them one day (I'm a tinkerer). Found them last week and decided to give it one last go before finally putting them to rest in the garbage when I found your post. IT WORKED!!! This just made my whole week. Thank you so much!!!!!!

If your headset is not charging, then the battery has breathed its
last breath. Now's the time to take a look at what's new on the

I bought the plantronics voyager pro bluetooth headset two months ago and now it's dead. It's been working great for two months. When it's plugged into the wall for charging the red light is illuminated....

One thing you can try is to power down and then power the headset back up. The instructions are on the link below for the Plantronics Voyager Pro, particularly the page "Listen To The Voice."

Plantronics Voyager Pro User's Guide

If that doesn't help, then you have a bad processor in the headset. It's still under warranty so contact Plantronics at 800-544-4660 x5 x5538 for warranty service.

New cell phone won't "see" bluetooth earpiece

The headset will automatically pair with the last device that it was paired with. You may want to remove that just in case. I am sending the users guide along with this. Also always start with the blue tooth turned off, the pass key is 0000 (four zeros).

Winamp/bluetooth/plantronics p590

I have found that winamp doesn't automatically output through any hands-free headphones, therefore you need to go into Preferences on Winamp (Ctrl+P), go to:
-Plugins/Output
-select Nullsoft DirectSound Output -->configure
-select Device tab
-select 02: Bluetooth Hands-Free Audio
-click apply
If music is already playing, click STOP then PLAY, pause will not do it.

I have been looking for this fix all day on the internet, but finally worked it out myself.
Hopefully this post will make someone else's day less stressful!
