Install training wheels

We purchased a Disney (Huffy) bike and the training wheels will not stay in place. Everytime our daughter turns the wheel, the training wheel goes up and the bike tips over because she does not know how to balance it yet. How do you properly install the training wheels?

When installing the training wheels, check to see if it is put together in this order ....flat washer, training wheel, flat washer, lock washer, nut. I hope this helps. If you are missing any of these you can find them at any auto parts store, Wal-mart, or hardware store such as Lowe's or Home Depot. (Be sure to take the traing wheel and nut to make sure you have the right size)

HOW TO DETACH TRAINING WHEEL FROM hUFFY tODDLER BIKE

  1. Begin by removing the outer nut. Using a 15mm spanner (closed end preferred), turn the nut in an anti-clockwise direction when looking at the nut from the same side as the nut is on (Dia.1 below)
  2. Next remove the outer nut, round washer, training wheel and square stabiliser washer. DO NOT loosen or remove inner nut!!

Huffy 12' bike front wheel doesn't fit

Mine had the same problem and there was no way bending the fork was going to work. It turns out they had installed an extral washer and nut on the axel. Take one off and retry fitting it. It may only go on one way. Make sure, before you tighten it, that the wheel turns freely.

I need a replacement front wheel for a 16" Disney Princess bike. I cannot locate in local stores (ie, Walmart) or on line.

You need to search on-line for the size of wheel, not by the model of the bike. Look at the tire, it will be labeled with the wheel size.

Hi, my daughter pricess bike won't ride. am not what is wrong. newly prchsed and assemble. please can you help?

will the pedals move forward? they should cause the chain to move and the crank in the back to cause the wheel to spin, if this isnt happening, look at the chain and make sure its correctly on both sprockets, if the pedals still wont spin, they may be too tight on the crank.

Hello, I bought my little girl the huffy 12in disney princess bike (blue) already assembled from walmart. she tried to ride it today, but when she pedals the back wheel spins, but the training wheels and...

ONE AT A TIME, loosen the nuts securing the training wheels to the rear axle and slide each one upward a little bit so it float a little bit off the ground when the bike is vertical, then retighten the nut.

As she develops her handling and balance skills she'll need less help from the training wheel. So you can gradually raise them a bit higher as she masters balance and then she'll develop the 'lean' for turning. Ultimately, you remove them entirely.

I hope she's wearing a properly-fitted helmet.

I bought the huffy 16"

It's pretty hard to know how to help you exactly. But this may help--- if you have (or can borrow) a digital camera, take close-up pictures of your parts then take the camera with you to a Wal-mart or wherever this bike is sold. Compare your pictures to one on display. Or better yet, take the whole bike with you. Or just take close-up pictures of the bike on display. It might also be useful to know that the front fork (that is the two metal bars about 10 inches long that point toward the ground that the wheel attaches to) sometimes have to be spread apart just a bit to fit the wheel's axle in place. I'm talking about maybe 1/4 inch or so. If it's a lot more than that the fork may have gotten bent in shipment and you should take it back.
good luck, Merry Christmas. Al K

Where can I find a replacement bearing?

I recently replaced a wheel bearing in my daughter's bike by just keeping my eye open for a junk bike. There are not all that many different sizes of bicycle wheel bearings to be had. The junk bike doesn't have to be a very similar bike or even be a child's bike. I got lucky on the first one I found. And it was free. Or you could take the bike to any bike store and they would probably have a bearing on-hand, but they will probably want $15 for it. good luck

My daughters Princess bike won't work. We were putting on training wheels but when I reassembled it the back tire would stay still and the chain would fall off. I think I am missing parts, but I am not...

hello. It sounds like you simply have to loosen the nuts holding the rear tire into it's frame slot and slide that tire back further until the chain is snug, not tight. Then retighten the nuts and you should be all set.
