The only solution is go into acer's driver download site and find out if your make and model supports Vista, if yes! the DVD driver should be available, if not that will be a problem.

Reboot with the mouse connected

install win 7 32bit with drivers for it.

Find a USB memory-stick, and find a computer with Internet access and an available USB port.
Put the memory-stick into the USB slot.
Browse to ACER's web-site, and select your specific model of the Aspire line, and select Windows XP, and select network-controllers, and download the device-drivers, and copy them onto the memory-stick,.
Walk the memory-stick to your Acer, and install the device-driver.

Yes there are many TV which is available with HDMI port.

Test the laptop with a external monitor see if you get any picture on the external if the external screen remains white then most likely the mainboard or the video adapter (in most cases build into the mainboard) is failing or has failed. One Possible reason could be overheating damage (the unit may not be overheating right now during the 20 seconds, it may have suffered earlier).

It could also be a poor connection between the display and the mainboard. but if the screen works for 20 seconds and then goes white its probably not the issue.

If the external screen works without any problems the issue is most likely your lcd screen or one of the boards inside.

If you are in warranty get in touch with your dealer or acer.
If you are outside of warranty get in touch with acer or a local repairer / acer cervice center.

sounds like the spaker on the left hand side is unhooked, blown or the pre-amp in the laptop that drives the speakers is bad, headphones are uneffected as it is a seperate system.

Hi there.
The keyboard toggle you are using is the correct one.
Sometimes you have to hit Fn + F5 a couple of times to stay on there is no real set time. Make sure Fn + F6 is on so the laptop screen stays on.

Please check the ports if not grounded to each ports. or use the front panel ports if there is. If still the same then you have to check for repair the ports.
