Liquid spilled on laptop computer keyboard

Spilled approximately 30ml of water onto leveno thinkpad Z60m keyboard. Power cord removed immediately then 30 seconds later battery removed. Unit then turned upside down. Attempted to power up 2 days later with no success. Presently the unit will not power up. When plugged into a power outlet, the power cord indicator and the battery indicator lights come on. The Leveno manufacture tech had me disconnect all power sources, push the power on button 30 times and on the 31st time hold the power on button down for 30 seconds. This didn't reset the system either. Unit still will not power up. Can you help or advise?

Ok " bet there is still water in side , i would unplug unit take a small hand hair dryer set it on warm not hot and go over key board, may take awhile to dry.

only other alternative is to take it apart and dry it

try the hair dryer first.

I spilled salad on my computer. Curser works, but clicking gets nothing

Need to know if it's a laptop or desktop. Was the food spilled onto the keyboard or into the CPU? If the spill occurred to a desktop (detachable) keyboard, simply buy a new or used keyboard. Not expensive. A laptop is more costly to fix - requires removal of case. You can always use an external keyboard with a laptop -just plug into USB port.
You may be able to clean an external keyboard by repeatedly pressing the various keys where the spill occurred. If all else fails, get some electrical contact cleaner from Radio Shack or Auto Zone, unplug the keyboard, and spray cleaner sparingly around the keys where the spill occurred. I would not spray a laptop - too much electronics to fry. After spraying again press the keys repeatedly. Replug and look for improvement. By the way, USB keyboards are cheap on Ebay or Caigslist. I get them for $10 each,

Keyboard dont type

No matter how careful you may be, knocking a cup of coffee or spilling a glass of soda over your keyboard may happen. This does not, however, mean the end of your keyboard. If you act quickly, you may be able to fix your wet keyboard to avoid any corrosion of its electronic components or any short circuit which might render it unusable. By following a few recommendations, you should be able to fix your wet computer keyboard.

Unplug the keyboard from your computer immediately after the spill to avoid any corrosion or short circuit. If you spilled water over your laptop's keyboard, turn your computer off by clicking on "Shut Down" on "Turn Off" in the start menu, unplug the power supply and remove the battery. Turn the keyboard upside down and shake it to remove most of the water from it. Take a hair dryer and set it to its lowest temperature setting. Use it to dry any water which might remain under your keyboard's keys. Wait at least 12 hours before plugging your keyboard into your computer again. If your computer is a laptop, wait 12 hours before turning it on again. For Other Liquids Disconnect the keyboard from your computer immediately after the spill to avoid any short circuit or corrosion. Turn your computer off by selecting "Shut Down" or "Turn Off" in the start menu, remove the battery and disconnect the power supply. Place paper towels on a table, turn the keyboard upside down and shake it over them to allow most of the liquid to fall down. Take a few clean paper towels and wipe the liquid off your keyboard's keys. To clean between the keys, you can also use cotton swabs with just a little bit of water. If the liquid which you spilled over your keyboard contained a high amount of sugar, such as soda or sugared coffee, you might have to remove some of your keyboard's keys to clean the surface under the keys with paper towels or swabs. You can do so by lifting them gently with a screwdriver or by using a key remover, which you can find in some IT stores. Wait at least 12 hours before using your keyboard again. If your computer is a laptop, wait the same length of time before turning it on again. How to Fix Spilt Liquid on bda25ce.jpg?
You accidentally knocked fruit drink or a late night glass of milk on your laptop or your child spilled a good portion of milk directly into your keyboard. You hear a popping noise, the screen goes black. Water by itself is not as bad as milk or juice, both of which are corrosive/acidic, or coffee, tea, soda, etc.
First and most important -Calm Down and unplug the computer from its power source.
Disconnect it from the power cord and remove the battery. If needs, please remove the keyboard. The old adage - Water and Electricity don't mix - is quite true. For your laptop spilled water, let your laptop dry. Do not attempt to turn on the computer for at least 72 hours. Let it sit in a cool, dry place. If you disassembled the laptop, reassemble it after 72 hours have passed.

Will not power on, spilled a tablespoon of water on keyboard

liquid spilled on laptop is bad news, even thou it might be just a tablespoon, on the right spot might render your laptop useless, its recommended that you Do Not turn on the laptop, remove batt, allow it to dry for a week, if the laptop does not turn on then its possible that internal components might be affected/damaged. if the system is still in warranty and covers accidental water damage, call your manufacturer, if not, bring it to your local computer shop for repair...

Hope it helps!

I spilled a small amount of coffee onto the keyboard while the computer was in use. I immediately turned it upside down and dried it off. I cannot get it to power " on"

Don't power it on. If that is doesn't seem kind of all water proof kind. Take out the battery and the AC power supply. Turn the laptop upside down without closing the screen monitor and let the coffee be out. Dry it/or take it on a reputable shop( I may suggest).

Have it clean. Hope it doesn't fry something inside.

Acer Aspire 5610 - one key does not work

Laptop keyboard are semi-sealed circuit boards. This means that liquid can get into the contacts and can not be cleaned. Depending on how much liquid was spilled on the keyboard chances are that the liquid has seeped around the edges of the keyboard and down onto the mainboard of the laptop. My first suggestion would be to keep the laptop turned off until you can remove the keyboard and check for liquid damage to the mainboard. If there is no damage to the mainboard I would suggest buying a new keyboard before turning the computer back on as any shorts caused by the liquid damage on the keyboard can cause damage to the keyboard controller circuit on the mainboard.
