The mains transformer in my Logitech x540 has blown (oc on the primary). I've taken it out and its a simple single coil primary and secondary, but there are no markings on it to indicate the secondary voltage. Can you help?

Hi everyone. I'm the guy that had his logitech X540 system drowned in hurricane Irene. As a result of the unfortunate fact that my speakers never learned to swim, the transformer shorted out, which of course means no power. I tried logitech, and while they were sypathetic, they informed me that they could, (or WOULD ), not supply a replacement transformer. Next I tried e-mailing " CHINA EASTERN FRONTIERS LTD", ( the manufacturers of the transformer), of Hong Kong.... they would not respond.
Now here's the fix, and it works beautifully; (I'm listening to them right now). Call or go to Digi-key. thats www.digikey.com, or 1-800-344-4539, and purchase power source part number 102-1332-ND. You'll also need to buy the connecters and contact, ( about 2 bucks). the transformer is rated at 120 VAC input and 15 VDC @ 3A output. The installation requires you to drill 4 small holes somewhere in the speaker cabinet to secure the power source. when you install the unit be sure to locate it somewhere that you'll be able to access the connecters and also provide for air circulation.
Once installed, your speakers will function as good as new; perhaps just a tad louder.

You would need to rewind the coils.Do not try to do it by yourself if you have no idea what you are up-to...this time it was transformer next time it could it could be your circuit.Take it to a professional, the charges won't be much.
Good Luck.

its 12vac this i know because of the diode rectifier on the circut board, which would not be neaded if the output was 12vdc i know this because mine too blew, and 1 other external transformer. so now run it off a 12 v dry cell Hawker Battery

Can the logitech x540 suround speakers be connected to a TV? If so, how? Thank you

If your tv got an headphone output, like a computer, yes.
However, you could still plug it to a video game console, xbox, playstation, with the included adapter.

Im trying to connect my Logitech X-530 to my PS3.

You need a digital decoder that is compatible with the ps3 and the speakers.

You would then run a digital optical link from the ps3 to the decoder and the normal speaker cables from the decoder to the speakers.

Decoders can be quite expensive and it can sometimes be easier to buy a set of 5.1s with the decoder either built in or included with the package.

Suspected blown fuse somewhere but no sign of it

Am sure that the internal transformer is gone, You would have powered your speaker with a step up/step down transformer, you need to see a technician around you that can help you out, you need to replace a 220V-230V transformer in the speaker since your country requires that.

Fuzzy & crackly

its the problem with the ac adapter which you are using might be your adapter is not working properly the adapter consists of step down transformer which is not very much durable some times so change the adapter and see if u dont have any adapter to connect just the direct wire to the supply then the adapter will be inside of woofer or the speakers change that adapter check this it works
