1st Step: Setting up the Internet Connection

When making a wired connection to the Internet, you do not need to adjust any of the default settings. If you cannot use the default settings to connect, follow the instructions below to adjust the settings.

  • Select "Network Settings" under "Settings" in the home menu, and then press the X button.
  • Select "Internet Connection Settings", and then press the X button. When a message stating that the Internet connection will be terminated is displayed, select "Yes", and then press the X button.
  • Select "Wired Connection", and then press the X button.
  • Select "Easy" or "Custom" and adjust settings as necessary. (Easy is recommended)
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to adjust the required setting.
Easy: Basic settings are set automatically.

Custom: You can manually enter detailed settings information.

How do you trouble shoot wifi on my Samsung note 3 if the time Warner Internet n my home is temporarily down?

Try re-booting the router/cable box from Time Warner, and make sure WiFi is on, and make sure WiFi is on on your Note 3: it should re-connect to the internet automatically.

Since Daylight Savings started on Nov 3, the clocks on all my phones jumped AHEAD one hour instead of back. I have tried everything I can think of including resetting my modem( I have Time Warner Cabl

You're time warner cable upstream provider is in another time zone. Are you close to a time zone border? Example of this is Mississippi and Georgia - you can live in Mississippi but get your internet connected (via network) to Georgia. That would produce Georgia time on Mississippi equipment.

Missing link between DSL Cable and D-Link Systems HD Media Router 1000 (DIR-657)

What is the Time Warner modem? Make, Model? If you have a Ethernet port RJ45 connect the wireless device via a ethernet cable. You may need a splitter if there is only one Ethernet RJ45 port. Example: http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-RJ45-Splitter-Cable-Adapter/dp/B00009XSZE

Can't connect to internet through router wired or wirelessly Belkin N750 F9K1103 after ISP dropped out for one hour

Unplug the ISP modem completely, power, and cable. There might be a recycle (a quick push) on the modem as well. Some modems have a battery backup and will stay lit, if not connect the power, reboot and then connect the cable. The modem may take a while to fully reload after reconnecting. Then do the same with the router. Only do a quick push. Holding it in will clear custom settings on the router.

You should have green on both the modem and the router now. If not you have this to inform the ISP of your troubleshooting. GL

How do i set up internet on a dell computer we just got? have a modem and time warner internet...HELP!

Plug in the cable from the wall into the modem. You need an ETHERNET wire to connect from the modem to the back of the computer. It is yellow, universal, and you should have received one from Time Warner. It will fit in only 1 spot on the modem and only 1 spot on the computer.I also have a Dell.Good luck if you EVER have to call for technical support. One time I called, they asked me to say and spell my first namke.G-r-e-g-o-r-y.She replied,ok let me read that back to verify it.Now that's T as in Tom...They have an accent,it is eastern, but much farther than New England to Florida.Good luck! Cable and wireless question

Not possible, since the "input" to the 2WIRE modem is a 4-wire telephone-line, not an 8-wire Ethernet cable.

Instead, spend about $40 to buy a D-Link Wireless G modem, and connect its WAN port to the cable-modem, and connect up to 4 Ethernet cables to "wired" computers, and configure the "wireless" component of the D-Link router.

Time Warner Cable won't identify Linksys WRV54G wireless router

If you can connect directly via your modem, then the line up to your house is fine. So no problem with your ISP.

Since you changed from cable to DSL, you might have to re-configure your router.
Open a web browser, type "192.168.1.1" in the address bar and log on to the web based router configuration page. (The default values are "admin" for username and "admin" for password)
Go to "Setup", choose "Basic" and review the entries there. You want to see it configured for "PPPoE".

Some DSL-based ISPs use PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet) to establish Internet connections. If you are connected to the Internet through a DSL line, check with your ISP to see if they use PPPoE.
If they do, you will have to enable PPPoE.
User Name and Password: enter the User Name and Password provided by your ISP.

Connect on Demand: Max Idle Time. You can configure the Router to cut the Internet connection after it has been inactive for a specified period of time (Max Idle Time). If your Internet connection has been terminated due to inactivity, Connect on Demand enables the router to automatically re-establish your connection as soon as you attempt to access the Internet again.
If you wish to activate Connect on Demand, click the radio button.

In the Max Idle Time field, enter the number of minutes you want to have elapsed before your Internet connection terminates.
Keep Alive Option: Redial Period. If you select this option, the router will periodically check your Internet connection. If you are disconnected, then the Router will automatically re-establish your connection. To use this option, click the radio button next to Keep Alive.
In the Redial Period field, you specify how often you want the Router to check the Internet connection. The default Redial Period is 30 seconds.
When you have finished making changes to the screen, click the Save Settings button to save the changes, or click the Cancel Changes button to undo your changes.
